Actually Fisher had a really good game tonight, I thought.

I just miss the days of Hossa, Havlat, Chara, even Heatley. Those teams were so exciting to watch. The Sens of the last 3 years have not been the same.

We are a franchise that was successful mainly because of drafting. We need to get back to that, and the only way to do that is to get some good picks.

Did anybody notice the Sens changed their socks since last season. They used to be this:

Now they're this:

they actually changed their socks at the start of last season, not this year. That pic of karlsson with those socks is from pre-season of last year where they still wore the socks, but debuted the new (current) ones in the season opener.

as for this game, I don't know what to say. It was so frustrating I had to switch channels. and whenever I did come back, it was just missed assignments, no coordination, slow movement, like the sens of the first 2 games. Oh and that 2-on-1 that Michalek and Alfie had sums up the night that was.

We hit alot of posts today (kovalev too) but either way we didn't deserve that. I wonder if the habs fans singing 'na na na hey hey goodbye' will resonate with the players at all, or will it be like their usual uncaring selves. Very very disappointed.

Here's a sad stat:

Ryan Shannon is outscoring the combined totals of Kovalev, Regin, and Foligno. Why is it that last weekend when the habs were in buffalo the night before, they can get up and be ready to face the sens at home, but ottawa can't do the same?

I know its just my frustration talking, but holy crap you could just feel it when they scored the 2nd goal that the sens had lost it at that point. They looked like all their energy was drained, and if its that obvious to us, why can't clouston just call a freakin' timeout? Just awful all around game, coaching to game play. I mean, how do you play soooo different then 24 hours ago?

You get the sense something might happen soon. Murray has to be on death watch at this point, this team looks horrible. If he feels it might save things, I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of trade go down. If not...I'm pretty sure Melnyk would want a new, young GM in here if something drastic happens.

It won't be long until we're hearing Murray rumours at this stage - and if Murray goes, the new GM won't have any allegiance to Clouston.

So, I do recall saying in my GDT on Friday that these two games would be our defining moment... are we really the Jeckyll/Hyde team we saw over the past two games? Is this inconsistent effort the way it's going to be all season? Man, I really hope not... it's still early, but man, we need to win the next couple of games to get going...

I still think Murray will get at least a 10 game mark to show what they're capable of. sadly, that's only 2 more games he's got.

And I think now, to try something drastic, Lehner will get the start on Tuesday against the Yotes. Leclaire looks like he'll be back by Thursday and BM probably wants to get Lehner at least one game.

Man that game was ugly. can't get over it! I thought we were done with this crap after the leafs and pens games....time for at least a 5 game buffer between these ugly losses!

Ponder this if you will:

Kovalev, Lee for Souray + pick. Why? Edmonton gets ride of a guy they do not want around anymore, and they do not have to pay him $5.4M to play for another teams AHL affiliate. And Kovalev is a UFA and they will shed $5M in cap.

Ottawa gets rid of a loafer who has been relegated to the 4th line. Opens a spot for Bobby Butler, a younger, inexpensive and more motivated player. They also get a veteran d-man who at one point was an offensive threat. Souray also can play a decently physical game when healthy. If not relied upon to fight he can stay that way. Ottawa gets a pick for taking on a more expensive problematic player, and sends Lee as a cap saver.

If we get Souray, WHo sits? By my account, when Kuba gets back, we have one extra d-man. Carkner would have to either sit or become a forward.

I feel like taking on Souray and his inflated contract is, effectively, Cheechoo 2.0. No interest in Souray.

I want to see what the entire healthy roster can do before considering giving up on the season.

EDIT: But if Murray trades our first round pick I will freak out, man.

I keep reading this all the time, most often on HFBoards. But when exactly did Murray ever trade his team's 1st rounder?

And man, we have the worst chemistry of the entire league, no kidding.

Which is reason for some hope... in that you'd think that once they find it, this team will get it going... question is, will they find it?

we were outshot 19-34 in our own building. i like clouston but at some point you got to say guys, if you don't take at least 30 shots in a game, its a bag skate at the next practice. stop making loafing an option.
