All I have so far is that Elliott is to start the full game tonight. I will add the lines when they are posted.
NEW YORK -- Brian Elliott gets his chance on the big stage at Madison Square Garden Friday night.
With the No. 1 job wide open in the Senators net, coach Cory Clouston confirmed moments ago Elliott will make the start against the New York Rangers and is scheduled to play 60 minutes.
As the club prepares to make final cuts after Saturday’s visit by the Rangers to Ottawa, Clouston is hopeful the pace will be strong in these final two games with all teams trying to prepare for the regular season.
The club wants to get a look at Jared Cowen, Patrick Wiercioch and winger Bobby Butler in a tough situation.
“We’re expecting a higher level of competition so we want to make sure we put them in a situation where they can experience that,” said Clouston.
The Senators didn’t arrive at their downtown hotel in New York until noon Friday. Weather issues at La Guardia Airport forced the club to cancel its flight scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
Centre Mike Fisher, who has a sore neck after a hit from Toronto’s Colby Armstrong Wednesday, didn’t make the trip. He is expected to play Saturday, but the club wants to make sure he’s 100%.
