They also are still tight to the cap so they may see more changes year after year.

Yes, the basis for that statement is reasonable, but the statement itself is nonsense.

Anyways, when your 5 best players are Hossa, Kane, Toews, Keith, and Seabrook, and you can back that up with secondary depth including Sharp, Bolland, Kopecky, Brouwer, Campbell, Hjar, Boynton, etc., then you remain a force to be reckoned with. It's pretty simple.

They may be a force to be reckoned with, but they were a much bigger force 3 months ago.

and with that, chicago's problems disappear....? If I'm huet, why would I accept this? I can't imagine him getting that much money from a swiss team (unless I'm missing something)

He gets paid his NHL salary while he plays there. It's basically a way for the organization to handle this in a classy fashion, rather than just shuttle him down to the AHL so he can ride the bus for the year. Nice to see that the Hawks still care enough about the guy to give him the decency of having options for the upcoming season.

Didn't realize that. I'm assuming he needs to be waived first and then assigned/loaned to the swiss team?

Yeah, I think that's how it works. Either way, he gets his salary no matter what. They key for the Hawks is that it comes off their cap.

Yeah? Well so was Kovalchuk's contract. Maybe Lou pissed off someone.

Give them a break...they won the Stanley Cup last year in one of the five biggest markets in North America and they still lost money at the end of the season.

I believe Chicago only has to pay him the difference between his Swiss league salary and his NHL salary, but don't quote me on that.

So much bad karma, but yes, if they're that desperate to get rid of Thomas, they should consider it. Then Rask breaks his (fill in the body part here) and Thomas tells them to cuss themselves. Smile

Exactly. Cheechoo should be a member of the Swiss Cheeses and we should have the cap space, but hey...what do we know, right? Shrug
