Yeah, Boogard is a UFA enforcer; Regin is a skilled RFA. Not comparables at all. Plus I don't think any Sather contract can be used in any negotiations. I think they added a rider to the CBA after he signed Redden. Sather and Milbury -- I'm sure their names are listed in an appendix. Soon to be joined by Sutter.

have the sens come out and said they were done with UFA's?

i'd kind of be surprised if this is the roster next year. i have a feeling we might just see someone new added to this team wether it be via FA or trade.

what do you guys think we'd be aiming at? now that cullen is gone...

I think we're done when it comes to UFA's to be honest. Although I can see us moving out a few guys if Murray and company feel like Butler, Wick, Cowen, Wiercioch, ect are ready.

A few names that stick out to me that could be moved are Shannon, Lee, Foligno, Ruutu and Campoli.

i'd rather keep ruutu to be honest and campoli is a good fit if you're gonna move someone out. actually i'd move kuba and his 3.7 before campoli and his possible 1-1.25 mill contract? that way we have more room and could possibly get someone interested at the trade dealine.

I dont know if he is so much trade bait as useless to The Sens. He is the kind of guy that would get picked up on waivers though and that's what I think will happen there.

I 100% agree Campoli is a good fit and his game seemed to have gone to the next level, the thing is, Cowen might be a great fit.

well yes if cowen is a fit we're fine.
gonchar / phillips
karlsson / campoli (or even cowen if he's good enough during the year) (sutton?)
carkner / cowen
lee

so really kuba would be a good option for trade.

For the sake of Karlsson's development I don't want him to play with anybody other than Phillips, Gonchar or Kuba this year.

Plus I like Kuba and think he brings enough up front to make him a valuable player who will be more valuable to our team than in a trade.

I dunno... Campoli looked like a top 4 guy the 2nd 1/2 of the season and looked good at the end of the season when he and Karlsson did play together.

I think that could be a good pairing if need be, or maybe he gets moved up with Phillips and allowed a little more freedom up ice. Either way, I think the choice it is actually going to come down to this year is Kuba vs Campoli.

I think you're right in that regard, and I might be one of the only people on this board that thinks Kuba is the guy we need to keep in that instance. It might come down to who has more value on the open market though, so Kuba might be the guy then.

It's not that I'm upset with Campoli in a top-six role, it's that I would want them seperated. Phillips - Karlsson / Campoli - Gonchar isn't a bad way to go about it at all, it just wouldn't be my first choice.

Really depends, if you go out and get a winger for Spezza salary needs to go. Kuba is the better player but Campoli might have more value to The Sens with his cap hit.

I think that spot on Spezza's right wing can actually be filled internally, wether it be Kovalev, Alfredsson, Regin, Wick, butler or Foligno I think we have enough there for now (although when Kovalev walks we better be ready to make a decent sized splash).

Depends, I dont think The Sens become true contender until they get their Holmstrom... and thats Penner.

I like Penner too, but they need a sniper more than a big body methinks. A Boyes for example (although his cap hit makes it tough to manage). I'm really hoping Butler turns into a 25 goal guy in the next couple years and fills part of that offence.

I honestly think it's easier to find a snipper vs a Penner. Put him with Spezza and Gonchar on the PP and he is good for 30.

Regardless, I don't see Edmonton taking him unless we sent back some serious pieces (Foligno + prospect + 2nd) and that still doesn't clear the right salary.

I think money will play and a big role, but if Kuba is shopped it's because the organization feels like they need to spend more up front.
