Any sources saying that Ottawa is aggresively trying to do something?

Hopefully crank calling Brian Jurke at least ....

I'm finding the news from the development camp more exciting than talking about FAs we most likely will not get.

I think we'll get Lydman or Tallinder. They are used to getting owned by the Sens, so they will want to join us rather than compete against us. Sens on July 1st, Free Agents, Trades - Interesting storylines to watch. - Page 12 Icon_razz

Gonchar/Martin etc. aren't gonna replace A-train.

No A-Train, I want a guy who can move the puck and play a little D. Gonchar, Martin, Hamhuis, Michalek, Sutton. Any of these will do (but I want Michalek).

if Z. Michalek does not sign in Ottawa by the early hours tomorrow, I think sens should just sign Sutton and Cullen and call it a day. We're not getting anyone else.

I think at this point Tallinder or Ldyman are better options than Sutton. They will probably make around the same money and are both younger are porbably better offensively, but that's not their game.

Probably some of the best remaining options once other teams have signed the better players. Enjoy. Smile

Why not? Lydman especially is pretty solid and Tallinder would be a good Swedish mentor for Karlsson.

If you're looking for a good replacement for Volchenkov then Tallinder or Lydman would do the trick, I don't know what's the problem here Sens on July 1st, Free Agents, Trades - Interesting storylines to watch. - Page 12 105237

Booboo claims that Murray is actually trying to keep Cullen and/or Sutton. Sens on July 1st, Free Agents, Trades - Interesting storylines to watch. - Page 12 489887

They're scraps more than anything. Karlsson has more talent than either of these two, so Tallinder wouldn't really be that great of a mentor. And if its scrap we want, then we should just stick with Sutton. He's the closest to Volchenkov with his shot blocking and hitting. Slow as hell though.

Having less talent than Karlsson doesn't mean he wouldn't be a good mentor for him.

If you think these guys are scraps then I think you're asking for too much. After Hamhuis, Volchenkov, Martin, and Michalek they are good free agent options.

From Bruce Garrioch's TWITter account:

Talks to keep Matt Cullen and Andy Sutton with the Senators are going into the 11th hour.

Senators GM Bryan Murray is hunkered down at his Scotiabank Place office trying to make one last effort to keep the unrestricted free agent winger and defenceman from testing the market on July 1.

Acquired at the deadline from the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Islanders respectively, Cullen and Sutton have both expressed a desire to stay with the Senators.

The indications are Cullen is the more likely of the duo to stay. He made $2.8 million last season and fit in well with the Senators. It’s believed he could be seeking a three-year deal because he’d get plenty of attention on a thin free agent market.

Sutton made $3.5 million last season and could simply be out of the club’s price range.

I can't see Ottawa in on Hamhuis, Volchenkov, Gonchar, or Martin. Two years from now, the Ottawa d will include the 4 young guys and Phillips. My bet is they resign Sutton for 2 years.

I really hope they can get Cullen under contract, such a good fit on The Sens. Im not saying Savard isnt a better player, but Cullen is a better fit.

Is this even still a "storyline"?

Bryan Murray, via text message, regarding whether anything was happening on the Spezza front right now: ``Nothing.''

Why are people still talking about Spezza? He isnt going anywhere.
