Dash wrote:Ok, your feelings of Lee aside, you tell me what our defence would look like, cause if it involves a FA signing that's not a guarantee. My projected lines are all signed with the exception of Campoli, and he's restricted. Aside from Lee, your options are Cowen, Wiercioch and Gryba.

Without a UFA signing or trade

Gryba/Phillips
Karlsson/Kuba
Carkner/Weiroich, Cowen, Campoli

Murray is going to go out an get a D man, he has basically said as much and there are a few guys available both in the shutdown role and puckmover.

Lee isnt ahead of any of the guys I listed in the depth chart and the fact of the matter is they all bring something unique, Lee is just a guy who skates well, that's it. If he was playing next to Phillips in a shutdown role, The Sens would be dead.

Yeah, but he's like A-Train, he can play either side, I don't think many people realize that - I certainly didn't.

Having a guy beside Phillips that doesnt fumble the puck like an ugly child will also help The Sens. Campbell is absolutely a perfect peice for The Sens to take on.

Us, Columbus, there's a few teams that could use his puck moving ability for sure.

Murray's said, plain as day, that he's GETTING a puck mover that would rival Karlsson. Says this team is 'dead' crossing opponent's blue lines with the lack of creativity.

You guys must remember that on Team 1200, I can't find the link, but those were very close to his words.

So we know that Cullen is probably gone in lieu of a real puck mover.

Murray also said he will do everything he can to sign Cullen in the same interview. Anyways, yes, Murray defently wants a puck mover that actually can carry the puck too. I would say Kuba is out and they will go out and grab Campbell, but that's just me.

Figured I'd make a thread about our D this off-season. There's a lot to talk about and there'll be a ton of things that can and will happen this summer.

You get me Cullen and Campbell without raping this team and I'm one happy mother****er.

So Sweden won 3-2 over France in a pretty lacklustre game today that was closer than it should have been. Karlsson made his typical clever/efficient break-outs (on Sweden's first goal he skated the puck up the side of the ice near the French blue-line and drew 3-4 defenders to him before passing the puck across the ice, which led to a goal - he had the "third assist"). But Swedish fans as usual are griping about BAG's decisions - for one, he's giving Karlsson almost no PP time when EK's the best PPQB on the roster.

One thing to note is that Karlsson looks taller on the ice than I remember him being. I also found this picture of him at the 1000 Games ceremony:

Which, given that Alfie is 5'11", makes him look like he's at least 6'0", though it's possible Alfie is stooping a little. Anyway, if he can break/has broken the 6'0" mark and if he continues to grow....wow.

Also, off-topic from the Sens but OEL is terrific. Just a tremendous pick for Phoenix.

I don't think his height is the problem, it's more or less that he was thinner than a starving African child when he was drafted.

Yeah, I've never considered Karlsson short.
IMO, he'll be exactly Niedermayer's size when all is said and done.

Well no, but the taller he gets the better, because he'll be able to tack on more muscle.

Denmark's Gretzky... no pressure on Regin I guess.

COLOGNE – It is hard to imagine Peter Regin having an impact like his childhood idol Wayne Gretzky but those days are upon us now. ....
