If he gets traded, good. For a couple of reasons. Nobody wants a guy that wants out on their team and, secondly, all the fans and media that seemingly drove him out of town will get what they deserve: a weaker team in the immediate AND a market with a reputation for treating their players like Dung. That'll draw UFAs like nobody's business.
What players have they treated like crap? Alfi - God. Fisher and Phillips are loved. There are a lot of guys on that team that get treated very well.
How is it surprising at all the Spezza, Heatley, Emery, and McGrattan are all (or will be) gone. Spezza did a lot of damage to himself because of a lot of things, the main ones being his freinds. You dont think those guys are in his ear? How do you think I knew he asked for a trade right after the playoffs... Ottawa is a small, small, place.
Spezza's a follower and always has been.

The Alfie is on a completely different level. He's not even in the discussion. Absolutely, Fisher and Phillips are loved. The fanbase isn't mature enough to understand that it's ok to be talented and put up points. You have to play a sound two-way game and bring your hard-hat and lunchpail to the rink every night, win or lose.
This town is stuck in the days of convincing themselves that guys like Pitlick and Andy Dackell were the only ones pulling their weight.

I think Spezza has wanted out for a long time, personally. Emery, McGrattan, Shubert, Meszaros, and Heatley all gone. All the guys crutches were taken from him. A lot has happend in Ottawa with Spezza, people dont realize how much.
Anyways, if he wants out you have to move him and getting Brassard and that 4th overall doesnt seem so bad now.

If that's what you'd be happy with getting in return, then I give up.

But he did. Saying he wasnt happy with the fans in public was a pretty good indication that Spezza doesnt want to be in Ottawa. All of his buddies are gone, he has had two pretty bad seasons for a 7 million dollar player in a row, and the fans are booing him.
It's ok to use logic sometimes in terms of Spezza.

Ill tell you this right now, Spezza and Heatley are not exactly two players that others around The NHL are lining up to play with. Having a core of douche bags off the ice is the main reason for the teams monumental collapse in 08. Spezza is maybe the best of an awful bunch but there are a lot of guys who dislike him (not hate).
I have always been of the opinion that The Sens need to build a core group of new stars up front having a mature group of vets, muscle to protect them, and a solid blueline with good goaltending. A lot of pieces are in place now, moving Spezza could very well be the best thing for a true contender to emerge in 3 or 4 years.
