All I asked for was one simple example of Luongo being a great goaltender and I got nothing. He isnt a great goaltender, he's good and it ends there. No playoff success at all and in fact I would say he falls apart when things get tough. He may very well be Spezza with a blocker and trapper.

I'll give you an example: The epic goaltending battle between Dallas and Vancouver in which Turco pitched 3 shutouts but Luongo still won that series and had almost as ridiculous goalie stats as Turco's. Tell me beating a goalie that has 3 shutouts is easy and I'll know for certain just how slanted your view is.

Did he really do that much to help win the gold. Made saves that others wouldn't have? I don't really remember.. I do remember that in the games building up to the gold medal game he looked shaky.

There was quite a bit of taunting the Van fans last night by the Hawks... may come back to bit them next game... we'll see if the 'Nucks respond.

Man... Boston is up 3-0 on Philly... they are coming on strong. We'll see if Montreal can pull out a win tonight vs Pitt and get back in the game... and it might be the end of the road for the Wings tonight vs the Sharks. Will Osgood come in to save the day?

He wasnt even close to great, like he does in Vancouver he almost cost them against The Slovaks and let in a late goal late against The USA. That's what Luongo does, he feels pressure and he gets beat. He was hardly anything special in the Olympics.

Beating Turco that year so/so. Fact of the matter is Luongo didnt outplay the other goalie because Turco was on fire. Says more about the team in front of him then him.

Like I said, Luongo has never done anything overly impressive to actually deserve the praise he's gotten for 10 years. Hell, I rip on Spezza for these reasons, Luongo is the same.

Babcock also shot down any idea he might put in Chris Osgood in place of goalie Jimmy Howard.

“I’ve made lots of goalie changes over the years when I’ve been coaching,” Babcock said. “I always do it for a reason. I don’t believe there’s any reason.”

He won. That's what counts. And if you look up the stats and if you watched that series it was pretty much ALL about the goalies and both of them were red hot.

Absolutely, he won, but he didnt outplay Turco, that's my point. But yes, he won that series and that's defently all that matters in the end. That being said, that's all he has ever done, win 1 series then lose then 2nd.

You could definitely argue he didn't out play Turco but it's by such a tiny tiny almost immeasurable margin IMO.

Osgood won a cup with detroit(maybe two) but it doesn't necessarily make him a great goalie.

I think Osgood is a very, very good goaltender or at least was. He's an HOFer for sure IMO and he's a good goalie that played great when he needed to.

He also has won 3 cups in Detorit and lead 3 different teams to the playoffs. He's had a fantastic career.

Yup, I agree. That being said that is as far as Luongo has gone in the playoffs and he chokes in big momments. We'll see if he can pull Vancouver out of this tailspin being the go to guy, the captain, and the face of that franchise. Last night he was owned by The Hawks just like last year.
