Yup, that was another good night for sure. He actually threw a few hits and made a lot of smart, safe plays when he didn't have a lot to work with. And the face-off win late in the game was clutch.

Spezza would shut everyone up if he would just keep playing like this. He doesn't need 3 assists every night -- it helps, of course -- but he does need to play smart and create. I don't think he turned a puck over all night.

I'll say this for him: he's picked a good time to pick it up.

Lalalala Ahhhhh! Ahhhhh!

That last-minute goal was huge. The Sens just almost never do that, ever. Good sign it terms of the team's overall confidence.

Two big thumbs up to CC for giving that spot on the ice to Karlsson, at that time and for that situation. Kid was clearly on in the offensive zone all night.

We could actually do some damage this year.

We're gonna draw a tough first round, but the future's so bright we have to start wearing shades. Cool

Poor Clouston. Who could you even sit when Kuba and Michalek come back? Does this team, unfathomably, have too much depth?

You know what team I see when I see this year's Ottawa Senators? The 2005-06 Carolina Hurricanes.

The Kuba issue does linger, I agree. I don't know what you do. Sutton and Karlsson look so good together. Phillips and Volchenkov are a lock. Has to be one of Campoli or Carkner -- and it's not like either of those guys is playing bad hockey right now. In fact, Campoli is playing some of his best hockey as a Sen, ever.

Nice problem to have, tho'. Smile

PIT or NJ are not ideal matches, for sure, but you take what you can get.

PIT offers a real chance at redemption for 2008. They're also not playing great (Fleury esp.), although the Cup experience does make them super dangerous. NJ, well, they're not playing fantastic hockey right now, and I've been saying forever that I think that Kovalchuk deal will blow up in their faces.

We'll be considered underdogs in any series, but realistically, either is a series that can go either way. I especially like our chances if we finish up the season on a high note -- 10-0, or 9-1. Smile

The fact we can win 5-6 games in a row tells me this team can go in the stanley cup finals if they don't lose their confidence before the playoffs start.
I really hope Elliott can keep it up.

Hopefully Karlsson become the next Mike Green. But with a little defense and less douchiness (check out his website if you want to see his level of douchiness lol)

Regin is now 1st on the team in +/-

His hockey sense is starting to impress me big time. Major reason why he's doing a way better job than Michalek on the 1st line IMO.

I feel shame...I commited a cardinal sin last night..

I was taking care of a neighbours house with 15 seconds left (before I even knew Clouston had called a time out), I switched the tv to the Playstation3 and started playing Assassins Creed II.

How stupid did I feel when I returned home and switched on the T.V. to find out they scored on that faceoff and then went on to win in a shootout...how stupid do I feel now.

STBY for sure. I watched it on the PVR, but that look on Spezza's face before the face off made me stick around Smile

Spezza is 2nd on the team in scoring. He's not going to catch Alfie, but he's 2 points off a PPG pace for the year. Given how much hi offense sucked at the start, not a bad way to head into the playoffs.

Karlsson is 4 points behind Kuba for the point lead from the back-end. Kuba has actually played fewer games by now, though, but still. A couple more multi-point games and he's there.

Alfie's face in the post-game interview was interesting. I read it as "This isn't my team for much longer, if even for now."

Don't you fret, Danny Boy, they'll need you more than you can imagine a few times in the post-season. Just make sure you are healthy for next year.

Speaking of which, between Clutch and myself I was going to do Saturday, but if you need some time to get away from all that visiting family, or maybe when you're up at 4AM basting that turkey, you go right ahead. Just let me know.

Something tells me that all Erik would have to do to top that is to put up lots of pictures of his g/f. Never seen her, but something tells me she'd be a looker.

Heavens! Did someone goose him from behind? I played it back for the kids a few times. Some milk found its way through some nostrils on that one.
