I don't know if this has been reported yet but...

http://www.ottawasun.com/sports/hockey/2010/03/22/13316291.html

Ryan Shannon, who hasn't scored in 21 games, will be replaced in the lineup by Binghamton callup Zack Smith.

Defenceman Filip Kuba will also sit out Monday night's game. He's missed seven of the last eight games with an upper body injury.

It also says Michalek could be worse off than originally thought and we should know more tonight.

1st post Latest updates and key injuries updated to reflect no Cammelari, no MAB, no Kuba, no Michalek and Z. Smith replacing Shannon.

Why is Shannon out? Is he injured?

The article didn't say. It just said Smith was replacing Shannon. It did imply that he was a healthy scratch by saying Shannon, who hasn't scored in 21 games, is being replaced by Bingo call up Zack Smith.

Hmmm...I wonder why Shannon is out. But, I love Z. Smith and think he can help us out. Maybe changing things up a little will do us some good.

Go Sens!!

Besides him being basically useless? He hasnt scored in 21 games, literally, he is actually useless when he doesnt at least produce somewhat. He had a good 2 or 3 weeks and that's it.

Smith is a better player then Shannon right now. He will be the 13th forward if he isnt traded for pucks next year.

By injured you mean physically unable to do anything of signifigance on the ice, then yes, he's injured.

I could be wrong but I think SSF was being sarcastic and was perhaps suggesting that Clouston's golden boy couldn't possibly be replaced unless of course he was injured. Sarcasm

Well, there is no reason Shannon should be in the lineup and unless injuries hit big time he wont see a game in the playoffs.

Thank God Smith is back up because he never deserved to get sent down, he was awesome during that streak and that's when The Sens were at their best.

I guess trying to get blood from a stone (a tiny pebble, in Shannon's case) doesn't work after all. It's comforting to know that he's locked-up, possibly at some other free agents expense, for another year of fast skating and not much else. ThumbsUp

Meh, good 13th forward if someone goes down. He will be this years Donovan... even then. Maybe they trade him for some minor league help, who knows.

So we've got what? about 1.5 million invested in the future Donovan and the present Brian Lee? Nice to have that 13th forward on a one-way deal but what about the 9th or 11th forward that may have to find work elsewhere?

Meh, there is a ton of room. Probably the least of Murray's concerns the way things seem to be going right now.

It's a good thing I'm not GM because I would have called up Keller, St.Pierre and Hennessy and I would have sent Regin down for an 8 game tune up, Winchester would have sat and Shannon would have sat.

Also sitting: Erik Karlsson. I would give him and pen and a binder and I would have him write down where the right D-man was at all times for both teams and what he's noticing about them. Coming up from Bingo would be Derek Smith.

I believe 100% in rewarding the guys in the AHL for their hard work - and these three guys have been literally carrying the B-Sens for a while now.

Next call up: either Holt or Brodeur. I've seen enough out of Leclaire for this year thanks.

About the only thing I agree with there.

Keller, St.Pierre and Hennessy have been better than Winchester, Shannon and Regin. If it's only because they're playing in the AHL, I would find out. There's no chance these three guys would be playing for my team right now - I don't think it's that hard to even explain - they deserve the chance to come up and play as a line like they're doing in the A and see if they can replicate the success they've had down there.

As for Karlsson, again, this kid will be amazing, but he needs to take a step back and see the game from afar.

And don't think it's just me who thinks that these AHL guys deserve a chance, there's no way they haven't caught Tim Murray's eye - who has Bryan Murray's ear.

Meh, Smith is here because he's probably better on the ice after the Sens score a goal than Shannon. Since Shannon is anemic offensively lately, might as well use a hungry shutdown guy with some offensive upside.
Or maybe Clouston is preparing a SOB line to forecheck MTL all night.

But my guess is, he's here because he was terrific against MTL last time.

I think the least of Murray's concerns are who deserves a frigging chance from Bingo. It's about making the playoffs, if they were any less of a concern right now they probably wouldnt exsist.
