Maybe, but they didnt. Like I said, this isnt a playoff series, this is a one and done tourny now and The Canadians are in a ton of trouble. Germany is going to give them all they can handle.

You realize The US is about the 5th or 6th best team in that tourny right?

It was Hiller vs Canada, now Miller... it's not the goalies man just like it's not always the goalies in Ottawa.

Uh...yeah it was Miller tonight. Come on, they did everything they could, they got robbed by a blazing hot goalie and Brodeur being a fool.

Miller could single handedly beat the russians too. They guy was lights out tonight.

Last 3 minutes, Iginla (I think) had a laid down Miller on his belly, and he shot it in his gloves. Don't think Ovechkin or Semin will make those kind of stuff, because those guys instinctively shoot top shelf. Let's face it, they have the best snipers out there, and against a team that's playing shutdown style like USA, it works perfectly. THey don't need a perfect hockey game.

I agree. That being said, the Canadians actually played pretty good tonight (for the most part). I know I was criticizing them, but I was frustrated. I'm confident we can get to the semi's, after that my optimism might run out.

Germany will need Hitler to come back to life and invade Vancouver for them to have any chance of winning the game. There is absolutely no reason to think they even have a chance to score a goal on us.

C'mon, Do you think the Swiss team had no chance to score a goal on Canada as well?

A 1/4 final game that should have been a final... got to say though, The Russians probably dont like the fact they face The Canadians so early... that being said The Russians will be more then ready.

Did you not see Brodeur tonight?

The Canadians needed another "warm-up" game to get all facets of their game going - including the finishing part. This is a good thing, they need the practice against an actual opponent, and if they lose to Germany that just means that you have no business anywhere near a medal.

+1. Exactly, if Canada is the best team and is good enough to win the Gold, they will win no matter what route they take. Remember folks, Sweden lost 2 round robin games when they won the gold in Turin.

Yup, facing Russia, Sweden, and who ever else might come there way is a good thing.

Beating The Swiss in a shootout would seem to indicate about The Same as losing to a better team in Germany.

I'm fairly certian its gonna be Luongo all the way now. It was a poor showing by the veterans and now that's becoming the talk of the nation. The swiss gave Canada the fits as well, so although its Germany, Canada will be under tremendous pressure to put up a complete effort, not just win.

Meh, I think they'll destroy Germany and then all bets are off. Someone is going home, Russia or Canada. Win, and you have a big chance... Ahhhhh!

Who did you not think Canada was going to destroy? The beat a team with 0 NHL'ers in Norway. They almost lost to The Swiss with 2 NHLers on it, now they play a German team who is coached by a former NHLer, has an NHL goaltender, a 1st and 2nd line with NHLers, and a solid defense that will block shots without a jock on to beat Canada... It will not be an easy game and Germany under the right circumstances can beat Canada.

Seriously, haha, it's going to take Canada losing out like they did in Italy for a lot of people here to give anyone else any kid of respect.

Jesus, Canada isnt the team to beat here and never has been.

Not saying they'll win Gold, I'm saying I think they can lay a beating on Germany and take it from there.

I don't think it's a stretch to think Canada can win its next 2 games.

Germany is not better than the Swiss in my opinion, and are beatable. And Russia has been suprisingly bad in the two games that I watched. Slovakia and the Czechs should have won those games in regulation.

After that games against the Fins, Swedes, Czechs will be tough.

Russia was even bad when they played Latvia save for the 3rd period. They are a two-line team, except for the fact that Semin is a useless player when the chips are down, and besides his hit on Jagr, Ovechkin was a non-factor against the Czechs today. The KHL lines aren't going to scare anybody and Nabokov is not known as a big-game goaltender either.
