This is the kind of game that explains why I don't cheer for this team.
Athletes who compete for the Olympics, like the speed-skating womens representing Canada work their asses off during 4 entire years for a few minutes of olympic time that will define all their hard work. Canadian NHL players, well it's just another tournament. I don't know if you guys watched the "hockey nations" documentaries. You just know when you listen to Selanne or Ovechkin or Alfredsson that they want that gold medal more than anything else and they're gonna compete like their lives depended on it. There's something that will never change, the olympic gold medal is the biggest life achievement for an international hockey player. For Canadians? It's not.
Not sure why there are talks about the team selections, when you nearly lose to a swiss team considering Canada's roster this should be the last of the worries. To me, Heatley's celebration after his goal compared to the other team's sums it all.
Goaltending was not an issue IMO, Brodeur played as good as Hiller.
I am proud to cheer for Canada, but I'd rather see other countries win if they give more effort, because there's nothing that I like more than seeing someone win because he deserves it.
Other than that, nothing to add, I pretty much agree with everything N4L said.
