Also, the "they are professionals" BS might be the problem here, not the solution.

Not hitting the panic button in a one game knock out could cost them, not like they can come back the next night and "try and get the one back", or what ever stupid cliche you want to use.

Again, that was a perfect shot. How you put that on Brodure I'll never know. No credit to the other team, again.

Instead of saying "great shot, great goal" you say "It's Brodure's fault" and just totally discredit what The Swiss player did.

I'm not discrediting the Swiss player. It was a good shot but it was one that should have easily been stopped.

After the round robin, the points mean nothing and this game can be put into the past (even though most of you are overreacting, and we still got 2 points tonight).

Best quote in this entire thread.

Some people seem to be forgetting that last time Canada won gold they faced adversity. If they don't respond well next game we might have something to worry about, but let's just assume they learned their lesson.

Why would we assume anything though?

I'm assuming we finish in the top 8 and make the quarters, is that so much of a stretch? Regardless of what happens against the 'mighty' USA, 5 points will be enough to advance.

Awesome? 5 points in a division where they should have MINIMUM 6 and should probably have 9. That's like saying, well, I passed with a D-, not the best, but I passed. Those are what we call underachievers.

Easily? Ive gone back to look at it about 50 times now just because I am trying to see how that should have been stopped. Pucks go in and usually, shots like that find the back of the net.

If you want to get technical, every shot "could be stopped". I dont blame Brodure for any of those goals tonight and his effort was IMO the main reason they didnt lose that game.

With the amount of talent on that team, this is but a blip IMO.

Yup, so what the loss against The Swiss last time. 7th place finish was just a blip in a very broad and general sense in terms of the next 50 years of Canadian hockey as well.

Other countries want to beat Canada more then Canada wants to win.

It was a good shot, but really should have been a run-of-the-mill save for Brodeur who looked unprepared for the shot. The Swiss played good, and they caught Canada sleeping, plain and simple.

Like four years ago, the Swiss netminder (different goalie I know) was phenominal and made the key saves to give his team life.

No question they go back to Luongo, but if we play like we did tonight, the USA will stomp us anyways.

I will say, sure looks like we could have used Green's offense on the powerplay.....

Maybe I'm taking this better than most because I never expected us to win gold.

That being said, I'm convinced this is a good thing. Just like the first game against Sweden in 2002 it's adversity that will bring the team closer together.

Just like '02 the media will go nuts and the players/coaching staff will find support in each other. I'm actually more confident in the team after this last game than I was before the tournament started. Atleast they had their botched game before the elimination round. I don't think they'll make the mistake of overlooking their opponent again.

To each their own though, have fun freaking out over a win...i repeat, a win.

Green wouldnt have made a difference, I'm not 2nd guessing who they picked because tonight, it shouldnt have mattered.

Question it against the better teams, not teams that basically any team of 23 Canadians that play in The NHL should have beaten.

We'll see, I look at this from a fairly even keeled eye - because I don't really care where they place - and I like the formation of the team. From the young to the vets, even Pronger looks younger than he did last time. Neidermayer doesn't look great IMO, but it's early enough.

Again though, we'll see, lots of winners on this team, if I had a bet, I'd say they ramp it up next game and go from there. Babcock has some alterations to make as well.

If Canada faces Sweden in the semi's in 2002, you think they beat them after they took it to them like no other nation has in the time ive been alive?

What's the opposite of adversity? That's what Canada faced when they got Belarus.

Cant get the players to care more then the other team.

The saving grance here will be Crosby, plain and simple. Canada will go as he does.

If The Sens beat the 67's in a shootout, what would you be celebrating. That's pretty much the equivilant here.

Crosby, Nash, Getzlaf, Boyle, Weber, Pronger, Neidermayer (play better!). The core of the team are winners through and through, I'm positive they care a lot. They need to loosen up a bit and start allowing their talent to dictate. I think they can do it, but if they don't, go Sweden!! Ahhhhh!

Im serious when I say this, I dont care if Canada wins or not. Im calling this from a completely unbias point of view, Canada doesnt care and doesnt have the pasion that the other nations do right now.

Canada thinks they should win, other teams know they need to work hard and to win.

Are they in deep Dung, or can they pull this out in your opinion?

Unbiased? You sound like you hate Team Canada with a passion.
