This is just sad... Why don't you start by turning off the lights in the government buildings at night?

I hate that they put Ottawa in the headline. Diddle off, it's the Canadian government, it has nothing to do with Ottawa perse. Makes us all look like Diddling arseholes.

The best way to "persuade" funding from the private sector and individuals would be through tax credits. Let's see if that's the case.

Remember when the Senators almost left and no one wanted to spend a dime? Even the City wouldn't reduce the tax bill for for Corellium Place? And the mayor was asking for "grassroots" solutions to keep the team here? lol

These people are idiots.

Whatever, Diddle Harper and Cie. I'm pretty sure they used the "results" as an excuse because they probably never wanted to invest in this.

To say the least.

Why are we mad at the Feds again? My understanding is they are going to continue to fund at the level they agreed to but don't want to be on the hook for 11 Million in funding that was pulled from other sources such as the province and business. Why not be mad at the people pulling their funding?

I'm mad because they are gonna stop funding the program. THis should be a perennial thing. You want results? you invest long term.

They won't stop funding it. From what I heard the COC asked for an additional 12 million in funding. I guess all this means is that it will be denied and that the money will have to come from the usual sources, Petro Canada, McDonald's and Coca-Cola.

They won't stop funding what they promised they would, but they will not fund for the next few years. That's what I understand from the article. I may be mistaken.

Brent Morrice, head of Ski Jumping Canada, said Canada should spend more on the Nordic sports of ski jumping, biathlon and cross-country skiing if the country ever wants to really own the podium at the Winter Olympics. The Own the Podium program pumped money mostly to top-ranked athletes who had a shot to win and left sports like ski jumping with barely any funds. "If you want to win the Winter Olympics, you can't ignore Nordic sports."

I've been saying this, lately. Seems to me that some of the nordic ski events should be fairly cheap in terms of funding, and there are just too many events there to be ignored. We've been horrible there, over the years.

Although the states came close scoring at the end of the 2nd but it was waved off after replay showed the puck just on the line at the 0.0 mark.
