Doesn't it tick you off that so many Canadians are coaching other countries' athletes to the podium?

A little bit. But coaching is a job, and just like any other job you'll follow the money. I'm not gonna hold these coaches up to a higher standard.

Dang, Norway got a gold so their 6-6-6 is gone, and we're three behind again. Enough, already! Too many damned nordic ski events. There's better stuff to do in the winter than ski cross-country. Let's get ice fishing in as a sport. Or how about a polar bear swim?

I don't mind it if they are coaching China's women's hockey team, but then I saw a Canadian coach (I believe) coaching one of the nordic curling teams in a match against the Canadians, and it certainly irked me.

Not every Canadian can coach the Canadian curling team though. It's their livelyhood, so I can't fault them for that.

Here's the story that goes along with the picture:
http://www.cbc.ca/olympics/hockey/story/2010/02/26/sp-hockey-women-drinking.html

Apparently, half an hour after it was all over, some of the players came out on the ice and had some beer, champagne and cigars. One of those drinking beer was Poulin, who is only 18 (she turns 19 next month). Although in Quebec she is legally allowed to drink (and has been for 11 months) in BC she is considered under-aged (seriously, why do we have a single voting age, a single armed-forces age but every province decides when to let them drink?) Some AP reporter saw this and informed the IOC, which are "launching an investigation". Don't they have more serious things to worry about, like making sure athletes don't *die* in training runs?

Granted, the girls should have stayed in the dressing room, but the AP guy should have kept his nose in his own business, and the IOC should have just said it's been handled (which it has been, since the team officials and CoC have already said it was unfortunate, a learning experience and won't happen again).

Yet, the IOC sees fit to make available more condoms then a single person could handle should they choose to shtoop their brains out.

Oh and it wasn't just some AP reporter, as the story starts to unfold it was an American Reporter who as you guessed isn't happy.

This is the stupidest thing that's receiving attention. Who cares if they were on the ice? They weren't conducting lewd acts, and the arena was empty except for the journalists. Who gives a flying Diddle? They earned that right, and laid claim to the ice they 'own'. And what if its the last women's hockey game at the olympics?

Canada already had quickly apologized for the incident, and Great Big Sea frotnman Alan Doyle gave the girls a big themubs up for their enthusiasm. The Official GMHockey 2010 Winter Olympics Thread - All Talk Here! - Page 36 85287

Facepalm

That's really too bad. Losing the aerials (after leading in the qualifiers) and now this, puts a serious crimp into our hopes of setting the total gold record.
