Facepalm

That's really too bad. Losing the aerials (after leading in the qualifiers) and now this, puts a serious crimp into our hopes of setting the total gold record.

Canadian women just blew the gold in curling BIG time.

Wow, up by two. One shot cost them a gold. That's tough to swallow.

Meh, I'm not disappointed, curling is barely a sport.

I had to give you a - for such an ignorant and stupid comment.

Have you ever curled? Do you even understand the strategy involved?

It's a game, therefore it constitutes being a part of the Olympic Games. I would still prefer a women's hockey gold over a women's curling gold.

She had a fairly easy shot to win it in both the 10th and 11th end. She flat out choked.

But not both right....

You're telling me you wouldn't care had we won Gold in Women's Curling?

She's been playing with fire all tournament long, doing things the hard way, having to make a lot more shots than she had to. Bad time for it to catch up to her.

Wow. Was it the skip? She was fading in the last couple of matches, her shooting percentage (accuracy) has been slipping down. Too bad.

Think of it what you want. Skiing and then stopping for a little bit of target practice is as weird and excuse for getting a medal as I can think of. It's one we never do well at. That's why I'm glad there's curling. Plus it's actually fun to play -- if you can do it reasonably well.

Anyone remember barrel jumping (in long speed skates) as a sport a few years back? Or what was that one where it was just skiing straight down as fast as you could (no gates, no turns).

Myriam Bedard excelled at Biathalon in the mid 90s. She's the only women to ever win double gold at the Olympics I believe.

Actually I just googled and, apparently, barrel jumping never made it to the Winter Olympics. I seem to remember seeing it at the Montreal Forum, and since I don't think Montreal ever held the Games, I'm not surprised it was never a sport. But I think it was up for consideration.

The other one -- the skiing one -- that one was tried once, I think.

WOOOOOOOOOOOO! Gold and Bronze in Men's 500M short track.

Even better, Apolo Anton Ohno is disqualified. What a crazy race. Two wipe outs, and Hamelin crosses the line first facing backwards....

Well, with the 500m final, we've caught and passed Norway, on the strength of one more gold. Tied for the leads in golds with Germany at 9.

Apolo Anton Ohno is a very loathesome individual indeed.
