going to dread playing against us.” Melnyk said he needs the club to go deep to make up the shortfall in revenues.

“We can make it up. We’ve got to go into the playoffs and at
least win a round or two. We’re going to go deep this year if everybody
is healthy,” said Melnyk. “Now, people are starting to believe this
team can do it. People have got to believe and get behind them. That
swagger is going to come back to Ottawa if it hasn’t already.”

For the casual fan who hardly follows hockey I can see them buying into this little rant.

On the surface, if you look at the standings and you still think Spezza is a huge impact player along with Michalek then you might agree with him.

I mean just reading what he says, not following the Sens you could go WOW. Look the Sens have won 4 in a row, they're 5th in the conference and they don't even have Spezza or Michalek. Imagine what they'll do then?

Yes, but its a 4 game winning streak. It's not like we've won 9 out of 10 or a long consistent winning streak that we can declare something like this. Besides, the team on paper we saw at the start was going to be good, but not top 5 in the conference. I just hope he's not putting even more pressure on the sens, especially when the injured players get back.

EDIT: I do see what you're saying though. It's more of a marketing ploy then to strike fear in the rest of the league, but still....I'd rather he take a more business like approach than to speak like this.
