I felt like I was back in 2008, watching that game...

"Weeks." Says Alfredsson. "Serious injury...not looking good." Says Clouston.

2 months sounds about right. But that's a guess. Same time as Spezza I would imagine, right after the Olympics.

47 shots seems so random...I don't know where they came from.
------
Imo it'll be good to learn how to play without Spezza and Alfredsson for a protracted period of time. This is a real test for the team and the Clouston system. We'll see what happens. If they can stay in the race for 8th, we might have a shot at the playoffs, after getting two huge deadline additions back.

And if they somehow really turn it on and stay in the hunt for the division, watch for Murray to make a big move at the deadline.

thats pretty wishful thinking, though, after watching that debacle. We'll see...I wouldn't bet on the Sens being in a playoff spot in at the deadline.

Maybe it's time to start thinking about moving A-train or Lee and go find some well needed help up front, like a Partick Sharp or Frolov in hopes to patch the hole untell Spezzs and Alfi come;s back.providing there want to make a push for the Play Off's the great thing about this is, Even if they don;t make tha play off's we have a nother score to add to the list that can help use next yr.If they happen to be UFA's at seasons end trade there rites on draft day. It's that easy GAME DAY: Ottawa Senators @ Pittsburgh Penguins - 7:00pm ET - Wed. Dec. 23rd, 2009 - Page 14 235689 GAME DAY: Ottawa Senators @ Pittsburgh Penguins - 7:00pm ET - Wed. Ugh. I'd hate to see the trap and the worst thing possible would be for Murray to make some reckless deal to try to salvage a season that probably couldn't end happily even if everyone were healthy.

I don't know how many fans could survive another tanked season, though. But frankly, I think it's pretty much tanked anyway.

That's a strange way to look at it though. We're in a playoff spot - or we were going into tonight - and we were 5th not a week ago. I wouldn't say the season is tanked just yet - in fact, I would go as far as to say that now is the most crucial time and that a trade for a real player to offset the losses up front might make all the difference.

Then, get in the playoffs and you're worried mostly about Washington, Pittsburgh, NJ - barring a direct first round matchup...who knows what could happen.

The one positive from tonight's game: seeing Michalek go after Adams was ****ing awesome.

I just don't trust Murray's mid-season trades in regards to immediately turning around a team. Commodore and Stillman did nothing because the team was a sinking ship. Comrie and Campoli didn't really work out either. Lapointe was useless.

I'd rather keep the assets.

Even Muckler got lucky sometimes though. Comrie was just the tonic to get that Sens team together and on a successful run.

Man...this team needs someone to step up, take the bull by the horns and light it up like a Christmas Tree.

This team is average at best. Even if we manage to squeak into the playoffs, we'll do nothing.

This tank bus has officially left the station. Who's on board?

I agree, but if there is a deadline move to be made to acquire some solid future assets (Kovalev, Volchenkov Sad ),I think it has to be done.

Time to start patching holes? That's all Murray has done for two years with his trades. This team is not even close to competing and to suggest that we are close is a stretch. Even with studs like Cowen and Wiercioch, it will take a few years before we are dominant again.

Time to trade Kovalev, Spezza and whomever else we can to improve this team starting in 2 or so years and beyond.

I'd do it. He'd compliment Michalek and Alfie quite well I think. He's still relatively young too.

Agreed, but I don't think Kovalev would fetch as much as A-train. Finding someone to compliment your scoring is always much easier than finding a defensive stud who's willing to block shots with his face.

How the hell is going to pay for Kovalev when you need someone big in return ?

Ok so Alfie out? We're screwed, nothing to discuss after that. With both Spezza and Alfie out, Fisher cant do it on his own not even with Michalek with him. Dont expect Kovalev to step up and guys like Winchester and Regin wont be able to fill in, as hard working as they may seem
