47 shots, that doesn't sound so bad. What's the word on Alfredsson's injury?

I missed the game completely, forgot to turn on 1200 when on the computer.

"Weeks." Says Alfredsson. "Serious injury...not looking good." Says Clouston.

2 months sounds about right. But that's a guess. Same time as Spezza I would imagine, right after the Olympics.

If Alfredsson is gone this team is heading towards the Taylor Hall sweepstakes.

Well he is gone. At least three weeks I assume, probably more like 6-8 if it's as serious as it sounds.

We have three options:

1.Make a significant trade.

2.Develop the workman-like Bruins, Devils mentality and check the other team into the ground (trap).

3.Head towards a bottom 10 placement - die inside quite a bit - and get a good forward at the draft. And wait another year as they suck a little less.

No, no, Filatov won't be the answer. Think Ray Whitney and Teomo Ruutu for Foligno, Picard and a high pick. That kind of thing perhaps?

EDIT: Laugh1 What the Diddle's a salary cap?

Now its twice Alfie goes down and the team does NOTHING. Hmmmmm, whats up with that. Need to get more size and nastiness

Carkner punched Adams square in the face, Neil fought. Not sure what else we were gonna do. I guess Winchester and Fisher could have instigated a couple more fights, but I think we responded okay physically. Unfortunately we shat everywhere mentally and in the skill area.

Fighting is not everything when it comes to Heart. THey laid a big goose egg and didnt put up much of a fight. As mentioned this is the 2nd time alfie got smoked and they didnt rally until it was too late. HEck they showed more fight and emotion when they took on Buffalo a couple of years ago...remember emery in two fights. Did you see much nasty in this game. Not me.

Ugh. I'd hate to see the trap and the worst thing possible would be for Murray to make some reckless deal to try to salvage a season that probably couldn't end happily even if everyone were healthy.

I don't know how many fans could survive another tanked season, though. But frankly, I think it's pretty much tanked anyway.

I really don't want to see this. Trades are exciting and our team is really dissapointing but I don't see a trade turning anything around (especially in the cap situation we're in with the assets or lack therof we have).

I'd rather they keep the current roster, and adapt their play to account for Alfredsson's absence.

Someone said earlier that there is little trades that can be done, due to cap room, and the overall Dung product we're putting on the ice doesn't increase their value either. Bottom line, either some GM is going to send scraps, or try to bend Murray over the table. Nah, don't do it!

We've had big players off before, others step up and carry the team. Here's hoping this happens here. Maybe Kovalev will see an opportunity to cast the spotlight on himself. (.......and maybe not GAME DAY: Ottawa Senators @ Pittsburgh Penguins - 7:00pm ET - Wed. Dec. 23rd, 2009 - Page 13 270956 )

47 shots seems so random...I don't know where they came from.

Imo it'll be good to learn how to play without Spezza and Alfredsson for a protracted period of time. This is a real test for the team and the Clouston system. We'll see what happens. If they can stay in the race for 8th, we might have a shot at the playoffs, after getting two huge deadline additions back.

And if they somehow really turn it on and stay in the hunt for the division, watch for Murray to make a big move at the deadline.

thats pretty wishful thinking, though, after watching that debacle. We'll see...I wouldn't bet on the Sens being in a playoff spot in at the deadline.
