Agreed, but I don't think Kovalev would fetch as much as A-train. Finding someone to compliment your scoring is always much easier than finding a defensive stud who's willing to block shots with his face.

How the hell is going to pay for Kovalev when you need someone big in return ?

Ok so Alfie out? We're screwed, nothing to discuss after that. With both Spezza and Alfie out, Fisher cant do it on his own not even with Michalek with him. Dont expect Kovalev to step up and guys like Winchester and Regin wont be able to fill in, as hard working as they may seem

Ouch, what a beating. Ever since Fisher got engaged....nevermind.

Sux that Alfie will be gone for a while now. No doubt we're going to see michalek-fish-kovie put together. Should be an interesting line, I'm guessing Phillips will wear the 'C'. I wonder if putting an 'A' on Kovalev's sweater gets him going....now's his chance to carry the team on his back. GAME DAY: Ottawa Senators @ Pittsburgh Penguins - 7:00pm ET - Wed. Feels like the same game the pens had in Ottawa where they got a bunch of regulars back and got spanked hard. However, Diddling pens keep injuring our players! If Clouston wasn't in deep Dung before with our sorry Donkey power play, he's really got his work cut out now for him....merry xmas clousty! If you think that game was hard to watch on TV try LIVE. This is the impression the Sens give my 11 year old boy going to his 1st live game. Disgusting.

Murray should and will eventually be fired.

1. Kovalev as pretty as he plays is the slowest, laziest player there is.
2. They put Leclaire in too early, should have waited
3. It's hard to give a sh!t about a team that doesn't give a sh!t about itself.
4. Fire Murray ASAP. 3 Strikes - out.

That shoulder to Alfie's head was just as bad as Ruutu on Kaleta. Alfie is an All-Star, Kaleta is a punk, yet Ruutu gets 5 and Adams gets to draw a penalty?

By the way, in my opinion Alfie has a concussion as well.

For those fuming that this is another Bell incident, Michalek jumped on Adams right away. Adams should have tried to fight back because he got filled in by Carkner later on. If he had fought Michalek it probably would have been mostly over.

And am I wrong but did the hit happen when the Sens were on the PP? No wonder we didn't have a tough guy on the ice. I think it's about time to put Neil or Carkner out there (one on the 1st unit and one on the 2nd). Teams are taking advantage of our skill guys when the tough guys aren't out there. Does anyone really think our PP could be any worse with Carkner on the point instead of Kuba or Shannon or Campoli? Or with Neil standing in the crease instead of nobody?

it was a dirty hit, but not an elbow to the head.

the way I saw it - the Sens were so freaking lazy that Alfie was doing all the giving a sh!t for the whole team - was too concentrated on the play.

I could see both catwalks from where I was sitting - just before taking to the ice - the Sens looked clinical. The Pens were laughing it up, having fun and loose.

IMHO - the momentum had shifted to Ottawa until the hit on Alfie. From there on in, it was blood bath..

I never said it was an elbow. It was shoulder to head, same as Ruutu on Kaleta. To me it was also a little dirty because Alfie was already *engaged* by Gonchar. I don't mind big open-ice hits, but when a player is already being checked by an opponent he will nearly always be blind-sided if hit by someone else. And even if he sees the hit coming there is often little he can do to avoid it.

Is it wrong for me to think this improves Team Canada's chances against Sweden? GAME DAY: Ottawa Senators @ Pittsburgh Penguins - 7:00pm ET - Wed. Dec. 23rd, 2009 - Page 15 159628

47 shots on Fleury... 47 shots?!? WTF?

Definitely a shoulder to the head... will be interesting to see if there's any disciplinary action. I'll be surprised if it's anything more than a fine.

There was no penalty on the play. Ruutu got 5 and no suspension for a similar hit, and his hit came against the boards. Is Alfie's star-power enough to tip the scales against all that? I doubt it.

Carkner got a nice upper-cut on him that ended that fight pretty quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if something got broken.

No-one wants to comment on my idea to have a "policeman" always out on the PP? If you cringe at the idea of Carkner patrolling one of the points, then stick him in the crease.

I don't mind us parking a guy like Neil in front of the net like the old PP days... but I'm not a fan of simply putting a "tough guy" out there just to protect our stars on the PP. Waste of a spot if you ask me.

Well, if the league is intent on getting head shots out of the game, they should do something. Unfortunately, I don't have much faith in the league in that respect.

In the absence of true tough scoring forward we will continue to take abuse on the PP. Carkner is a big body and won't mind the abuse. Like I said in the original post, does anybody really think we could do worse on the PP?
