Now SSF, you have to call a spade a spade. I called out Alfie, Michalek and Kovalev for not producing offensively, now I'm also making reference to Elliott Diddling up. I call good things when I see them, I call bad things when I see them.

That's fine. It just seems to me that Elliott has been the Ace of Spades too often.

I agree completely, but his rebound control is a travesty. It really is.

Whilst I wasn't the most impressed with Elliott, I also commend him for coming up with a couple of massive games and ultimately keeping the Sens in it. Further good news is that he gets a rest now - and that this will help him in the future to be an even better tender. So it's all good.

I agree somewhat that he needs rest but the team has put up some real stinkers in front of him too. Last night was putrid.

Like I said, he played just fine (even great at times) but his rebound control is horrendous. It might literally be the only hole in his game, but it's a gaping chasm. It's the grand canyon of goalie holes... Until it changes, we should expect nothing different from our backup.

Classic game where the other team knows EXACTLY how to play the grinding game - and we don't yet have the firm grasp of it. Nor do we have Chara, but the Devils were the same. They will let you have all the shots you want from the perimeter, but when you get in close, they will either block it or deflect it. A million stoppages, a million stoppages to any momentum as well, then they clog up the neutral zone and force turnover after turnover until you make a mistake and they make you pay for it.

It's like clockwork - and I dread playing these teams because we're not at the pitch where we can keep up with that style of play, so we need to score the first 2 goals of the game and change it to a more open style. But...alas...we never seem to do that.

I hope the hit Chara threw on Kovalev will wake him up. That seemed to be the only thing to get him going last night.

I find it funny that you guys still call Elliott your "backup" goalie. Elliott will play just as many games as Leclaire this year. Every year Leclaire is in Ottawa, Elliott will play just as many games as Leclaire. You might want to stop covering up Elliott's flaws by saying "its ok, he is only our backup". That may get old real fast for you.
