What a pathetic effort last night by our highest paid players.

Kuba looked like an bunghole all night. Spezza looked like a clueless bunghole all night. Alfredsson just wasn't there. Kovalev didn't cost the team much in the way of scoring chances, but he certainly didn't create any other, unless you count that attempt near the end of the game where he shot it about 15 feet above the net.

If Mike Fisher wasn't having a phenomenal rebound year and Michalek wasn't having a career year, the Sens would probably be a last place team right now.

I would do it

heatley spezza gone

penner, cogliano, smid, michalek, cheechoo, and a 2nd back. Plus far more options with the cap over the next 5-7 years.

No shot they give up Penner now, none.

If they get Coglinao and MPS, that woud be more then enough for me.

Im hearing whispers that Alfi might be just totally sick with Spezza... Spezza is actually making Alfi look bad at this point.

Yuuuuuup, they would for sure, The Sens wont be making the playoffs. Its awesome having the guys that work their Donkey off get rewarded, get the ice time, all that stuff, but if your highest paid guys cant do the job your team is screwed.

HAHAHAHA...they're gonna trade 3 guys who have combined for 44 points for a guy with 15 points.
HAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHA. That's good. I'm dying over here.

No kidding. Diddling Spezza. Got himself wrapped up in the idea of making an Olympic team, had to come out and prove he belonged and be a leader for this team and he wilted. Pathetic. Spezza's trade value is skyrocketing...downwards, by the day.

I don't know what Murray can do. He must be pulling his hair out because of this Diddling team. It's like, if it's not one thing, it's the other.

Can't stay healthy, can't get our highest paid players to score, players wanting out, needing pieces across the board to make the team better. Guy's probably thinking to himself why the Diddle he ever decided to stay on as GM of this sad sack team of Dung.

Maybe Spezza should check out the view from the press box? I know that's a pretty drastic move... but who knows... anything to snap him out of this...

Agreed. This is the deal that's going down:

To OTT: Sharp, Gilbert, MSP, Omark, Plante, Peckham, 6-1st rounders

To EDM: Spezza, Buff

To CHI: Foligno, Reddox

Snap a guy out of 24 games? Gonna have to be a hell of wake up call to pull that miracle off.

Funny enough, that deal makes as much sense as the more serious proposal.

Doesn't Spezza have an NTC ?

I'd change the first line up several times if needed ... it's not working before trading him.

I don't think he is injured (much), he seemed to show good speed out there.

Murray has put together a goo, hard working team and there are A LOT of nice pieces coming along and actually in Ottawa.

They have a great leader, a solid group of D men in and around Ottawa, Mickalek and Fisher are going to lead a young group of forwards, and the goaltending is solid and deep.

The sooner Spezza is gone the quicker everyone can move on and get things going the way it should be.

Or you could look at it as they are trading for a guy that has scored 433 points in 428 games for THREE guys who have 288 points over 709 games!!!!! Who's laughing now??

His NTC kicks in next summer. July 1st, 2010.

Maybe Murray needs to remind him of this fact...

You're right!

To OTT: Sharp, Cogliano, Gilbert, MSP, Omark, Plante, Peckham, 6-1st rounders

To EDM: Spezza, Buff

To CHI: Hennesy, Reddox

Fixed. We were giving up too much and getting too little.

You dont think Murray has had constant talks with him over the l ast 3 years?

Nothing can help Spezza as an Ottawa Senator, the guy needs a new home and has for a while. This current team is too good for him.

Spezza has 433 in 428 games

Does any of the other names being tossed around have anywhere near those numbers

People implying we wouldn't get great value back for him even now, are full of crap. Number one centres don't come around often.
