HAHAHAHA...they're gonna trade 3 guys who have combined for 44 points for a guy with 15 points.
HAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHA. That's good. I'm dying over here.

Agreed. This is the deal that's going down:

To OTT: Sharp, Gilbert, MSP, Omark, Plante, Peckham, 6-1st rounders

To EDM: Spezza, Buff

To CHI: Foligno, Reddox

Funny enough, that deal makes as much sense as the more serious proposal.

You're right!

To OTT: Sharp, Cogliano, Gilbert, MSP, Omark, Plante, Peckham, 6-1st rounders

To EDM: Spezza, Buff

To CHI: Hennesy, Reddox

Fixed. We were giving up too much and getting too little.

I'd change the first line up several times if needed ... it's not working before trading him.

I don't think he is injured (much), he seemed to show good speed out there.
His NTC kicks in next summer. July 1st, 2010.

Maybe Murray needs to remind him of this fact...

You dont think Murray has had constant talks with him over the l ast 3 years?

Nothing can help Spezza as an Ottawa Senator, the guy needs a new home and has for a while. This current team is too good for him.

Spezza has 433 in 428 games

Does any of the other names being tossed around have anywhere near those numbers

People implying we wouldn't get great value back for him even now, are full of crap. Number one centres don't come around often.

As a matter of fact Murray has mentioned "THE DATE" publicly at least a couple of times stating that he didn't need to make a move "for now".

They should send spezza home early from this trip like the habs did with Kovalev. Now that would create some rumblings....

Doesnt matter. Sakic was a PPG player but I wouldnt trade anything of value for him. What about Paul Karyia? He's still playing.

Point being is Spezza isnt getting better, his development stopped at 22, 23 year old and it's been downhill since then or since he signed his deal.

Spezza is worth about a 2nd line center and maybe a decent prospect, not much else.

Let's try to keep a little perspective here. This trade Spezza talk is kind of a waste of time. Fantasy writers everywhere are saying now is the time to go after guys like Spezza, Staal, Vanek etc but that stuff never works because nobody is dumb enough to give up on high end guys like these (all three I mentioned just so happen to me on my fantasy team...damn it). Owners are well aware they won't get equal value back. Do you think Murray is any different?

Neely- everything you've said about Spezza over the last few weeks is true at this point, management has no choice but to hope he gets his Dung together. Bench him for a game and sit down and tell him how it's gonna be because this feel sorry for yourself act isn't gonna fly here. We got rid of one baby...don't make us get rid of another...grow up. Then, you bring him back but keep his ice time down because he's gonna earn it back.

It's been a weird start. The guys I expected to play well haven't and other guys I had low expectations for are playing very well. I'm not jumping on Neely's bandwagon just yet. Yes, the numbers don't lie and Spezza's work ethic over the last few games isn't helping his cause but you don't lose all that talent over night and five games in, I believed Spezza was on his way to putting it all together. This year could make or break the rest of Spezza's career. If it's break, we're stuck with him. So...I'm gonna go with make, just to be an optomist.

Which is why I could see us end up with an even Dung player with an even Dung deal and a Dung nickname. Good ole "Horcs".

Come on, really? I cant STAND that fantasy stuff. It's for stat hounds, that's it.

The fact that no one in that organization has called out Spezza is, IMO, way more telling then someone actually coming out and saying he has to be better and all the other cliches.

It's fine to sit Foligno (I agree with it) it's fine to call out Elliott (he does need to be better), it's fine to sit rookies and send them up and down from NHL to AHL, but that's not gonna win you games, even if they are having great years.

I agree with pretty much everything else though.

Right now, they wouldnt. Why would they give up a player they would want to play with Spezza?

I agree with that which is why I still think he can turn it around. This is as much mental as anything else. You can't tell me it's as simple as the game changing that much to hurt Spezza's game. That might play a part but it's a mental issue as well. That, of course, is no excuse but I do think he can still turn this around.

Honestly I don't know what to say to this. If you honestly believe you would only get a second line centre and a prospect for Spezza I have to walk away. You are talking about a player who averages 90 points a year. Its easy to talk about dumping your number one centre until you try to replace him.....

I have no faith in Spezza, none. This isnt a slight at people who think he can actually turn it around, but to me he is a lost cause. There are no signs, what so ever he has the ability to do it, or anything in his past that says he can handle adversity... in fact, it's the opposite.

We arnt talking about dumping Fisher are we?

The days of Spezza being anything more then AT BEST a PPG guy is over, he isnt. Im trying to be really polite here but if you think Spezza is worth anything other then perhaps a top 6 forward and a good (not great) prospect, then you need to check into reality, buddy.

If St Louis offered up McDonald and Eller tomorrow for Spezza, I would jump on it, same if Edmonton offered up Cogliano and MPS, or Columbus offered up Brassard and Filatov.

If you think Spezza can land a player like Michalek, noooooooooo chance.

According to the Team 1200 "Round Table" Ovechkin is the most unique player in the league. The only players who are even close, according to them, are Iginla and Fisher.

That says it all.
