I think both alfie and spezza are injured. I wasn't impressed with alfie's game either. I don't know what it is but it seemed there were more than a few moments where I thought clouston should call a timeout and regroup his players. It doesn't always have to be used at the very end of the game (granted it was close for the most part). The positives were plenty in this game, but waaaaay too many negatives.

+ives: Cheechoo, give yourself a pat on the back. Hell of a game, best as a senator so far. I just hope to god he can continuet this way. Fisher, Karlsson, Shannon, Phillips had great games. Phillips struggled at first but really picked it up. Came back from 3-1 deficit.

-ives: Elliot shoulda stopped that penalty shot...but props to simmonds. Kovy didn't cost the team, but I don't know if he's creating proper scoring chances or not. Actually the whole team didn't get quality scoring chances at all...when we did, we buried them. Terrible game, but it is somewhat comforting to know that sens can play so bloody crappy and still be in the game for the most part (am I right?)

ultra negative: SPEZZA! WTF man??? please stop with the drop passes, ur starting to cost the team dearly. I'm okay with mistakes if you can more than balance it with production at the other end, but there's nothing happening with spezza. Zilch. Nada. I think clouston needs to sit him out fo sho.

Finally, that Michalek-Spezza-Alfie line ain't working, and it hasn't for a while. Shuffle it up!

Is anyone ever "not injured" when they don't produce?

Spezza's been injured since he signed that contract, haha. The guy must be on his death bed at this point.

So sick of the excuses for this guy, nothing left except to keep saying "he's injured". He actually came out and said this is the best he has felt all year but ok...

I have to admit N4L is right ragging on Spezza, he makes 7M and is supposed to be the #1 centre on this team and has been mentioned as a successor to Alfie in the years to come.

Although I'm beginning to think he's incapable of playing without Heatley (or someone like him). He keeps making passes expecting someone to be there when they're not. I don't think Michalek and Alfie have much chemistry with him. Alfie is 37, he's not quite the same Alfie from years ago.

Clouston really to change up that first line. It's not working.

People are starting to say that Alfi is fed up with Spezza... that's a really bad thing for Jason Spezza.

Alfie is the team captain and wants us to win and do well. If a player on his line is fairly consistently sabotaging our efforts to win some games of course he will be pissed, especially if he's seen that player play much better.

Absolutely, Spezza is now hurting this team and killing Alfi. It take A LOT to make Alfi look bad, he's too old to cover up for Spezza any longer and Heatley isnt there to make Spezza better then he actualy is.

Last night was the absolute last straw for me. Would not be surprised to wake up any time soon and hear Jason Spezza has been dealt.

I am beginning to think that he needs to be dealt. If Edmonton was still interested I would be talking to them if I was Murray. Tough to make the salaries work though.

Also, for the record, the only reason I dont think they are giving it to Spezza publicly like they did to Elliott is because right now, Murray and The Sens are in a last ditch effort to try and get something out of Spezza...

Edmonton is frigging cooooooold this time of year.

Easy as pie:

To OTT: Sharp, Gilbert, MSP, Omark, Plante, Peckham, 6-1st rounders

To EDM: Spezza, Buff

To CHI: Foligno, Reddox

spezza to edmonton for

Penner
Cogliano
Smid.

I would do it

heatley spezza gone

penner, cogliano, smid, michalek, cheechoo, and a 2nd back. Plus far more options with the cap over the next 5-7 years.

IF (that's a huge IF) Spezza EVER finds anything resembling his productivity from 3, 4 years ago, it wont be in Ottawa, nooooooo shot.

What a pathetic effort last night by our highest paid players.

Kuba looked like an bunghole all night. Spezza looked like a clueless bunghole all night. Alfredsson just wasn't there. Kovalev didn't cost the team much in the way of scoring chances, but he certainly didn't create any other, unless you count that attempt near the end of the game where he shot it about 15 feet above the net.

If Mike Fisher wasn't having a phenomenal rebound year and Michalek wasn't having a career year, the Sens would probably be a last place team right now.

No shot they give up Penner now, none.

If they get Coglinao and MPS, that woud be more then enough for me.

Im hearing whispers that Alfi might be just totally sick with Spezza... Spezza is actually making Alfi look bad at this point.

Yuuuuuup, they would for sure, The Sens wont be making the playoffs. Its awesome having the guys that work their Donkey off get rewarded, get the ice time, all that stuff, but if your highest paid guys cant do the job your team is screwed.
