He's got an edge though, which probably isn't all bad. But I'm VERY happy we got Cowen.

Having an edge and being irresponsible are two different things. I don't like a whole lot of what I've seen from him.

The score notwithstanding, I'm pretty impressed with the individual skill level of the Latvians. They aren't very organized and they lack a certain discipline that teams need to keep the score reasonable, but they aren't 15-0 bad like the score will likely indicate.

I still can't figure out how a team gets an even strength 2-0 like the one Eberle scored on. Thats part of that discipline issue...

I should say though that players with that kind of skill and that kind of edge are exactly what the Sens lack. Having a first liner who could play an entire season as an effective 4th line agitator if need be would be pretty solid.

What's the shot count in this game? Are we even being tested?

Petersson didn't play the third period at all The Official 2010 WJC Thread - Page 12 432129

Seems to be pretty standard for him...he lacks in-game consistency.

No, he's too important to the Swedish attack for them to bench him. Word is he's sick/sporting a minor illness.

He and JS had very strong games, in different ways (although Silfverberg chipped in a goal).

Almost not fun to watch. I suppose it helps the team gel though.

I hope the Latvians at least had fun because that's just embarrassing.

Good news. Yeah, Silfverberg is being ridiculously highly touted right now. Maybe too much so, but there are people who've watched him religiously who seem to think he's well on his way to being NHL ready. Shrug

Very solid in all areas of the game, but not an offensive stand-out at this point. Hopefully he can develop some offensive mojo. Right now he projects as sort of an Axelsson or Winchester IMO.

Petersson is all offence. 1 goal (beauty) and 2 assists (1 a beauty) and I think he only played about half the game.

Anyway, both are integral to this Swedish team. I think it's bull**** that Karlsson's scratched, and if this continues I'll be pretty displeased that he's not in the Senator or Swedish line-up.

Wow, I would think he has double to offensive tools that Axelsson or Winchester have. That surprises me to hear that comparison.

We'll have to see what happens with Karlsson. It's really silly to scratch him at all at this point, I don't see why. Because of the Pittsburgh game? Everyone sucked equal amounts of ****. I don't want him as a healthy scratch again personally, it doesn't help in the least. To the WJC or to Bingo or back in the lineup.

So is Sweden for real? the Czechs beat the US and only lost to Canad by 1, yet they got pulverized 10-1 by Sweden. Are they *that* good or was this a huge hiccup by the Czechs?
