This is not a SNL skit.  Giant killer wasps have claimed the lives of dozens of people in China.

Random (weird) stories - Page 4 BVgPF3GCMAEFi3C

Story here: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/killer-hornets-see-first-pictures-2327613

In the story they say they believe the wasps to be the Aisan Giant Hornet, which grow to 5 cm (2") in length with a 6mm sting. THey look bigger in that picture.

Cat attacks baby, holds family hostage.

The weirdest thing about this is CFRA reporting and tweeting the story. They typically only have serious news.

How about that plane from Malaysia who just disappeared? It's like LOST Flight 815

It likely blew up or fell apart in mid-air, and bits of it are scattered in the ocean. They'll find pieces eventually.

actually i'm really intrigued about this story. a lot of people might think malaysian airline is a cheap arline but they are amongst some of the best in asia, comparable to singapore airlines. Ive taken them many times. much better then any american airlines or canadian ones for that matter. will be interested in finding out exactly what happened. it seemed the plane was totally off course and possibly heading towards the malaka straight. i suspect this was people related.

You all heard the story -- two guys whose passports had been stolen were "on" the plane, except they weren't. In other words stolen passports were used by two men who got on the plane. Interpol had confirmed both to be Iranian's seeking asylum.

Recently there were reports that cellphones of some passengers (when family tried calling them) actually were ringing (but no answer), and some online accounts also indicated recent activity.

what I don't understand is how there is not an independent device on board every plane that is traceable by satellite. seems like the cost of one would be minor in comparison to what these search and rescue cost.

Nope, air traffic controller union doesn't want them because it could cost jobs... thus no GPS on planes.

Planes use GPS for their own navigation, that info is just not communicated with the air traffic controllers. They rely on radar. It does seem silly in this day and age that they wouldn't have gps tracking as a backup at the very least...

Every single cell phone on that plane had GPS. Can they track the phone's historical location? They do all the time on TV shows. They could at least track the plane's course.

I think they have tried locating cell phones that were supposedly still ringing, but no luck.

Send in the Seals. They found Saddam in a hole in the ground... they can find anything.

I'm not talking about locating any phones, just tracking their position in the couple hours after takeoff. Castle/Beckett seem to be able to do it on a weekly basis.

my guess is that no one uses phones on planes because most people don't use satellite phones and no one gets coverage 9000 feet up in the air? most cell phones have antennas on top of buildings or towers. you just can't triangulate something that is up in the air beyond reception. this is my guess

Wouldn't it be nuts if this plane was hijacked and actually landed somewhere and all the passengers are being held prisoner?
