Kelly is a disaster out there, and Fisher made the bonehead play not to clear the puck. Honestly, I don't blame the coach, the players need to execute.

How is Kelly a disaster? Let me see, last 2 mins of a game protecting a lead... Cheechoo or Kelly.... toooooough choice there.

Kelly is 100% a guy I would have out there in the last 2 mins of a game protecting a lead but I guess by him being on a 4th line that can play a regular shift with Shannon, he might be a bit cold, so if that's the case, then good call by Clouston.

Playing favorites might have cost The Sens the last 2 games because of the inability to roll 4 lines.
Screw being cold, I saw Kelly standing on the offensive side of a board battle in the neutral zone 3 times tonight. For the "smartest man on the team" that is totally unacceptable. Every forward on that team should have to watch Peter Regin play without the puck, he is so smart it isn't funny.

So why wasnt Regin out there?
Now that's a good question.

Wasn't Fisher who failed to clear it which resulted in the tying goal? We deserved to win this game, Clouston has changed the mentality of this team and tonight was a mix of BS officiating and Bruins luck.

I'm getting sick and tired of Cheechoo as well and I agree about Dono having to be there, but none were the reason we lost

Cheechoo had a good game for 58 mins, then Clouston put him out there for some reason, but he isnt the guy that should be out there protecting a lead. DUMB decision by the coach.

Maybe you're right, but maybe, as a goalie youself, you don't appreciate the mindset of a player. Clouston was showing faith in his best line---all of it---and they couldn't reward him for that faith. Surely you can see the logic?

Chris Kelly is a fourth line player on this team, and frankly he or Shannon should be taken out in favour of Donovan. Kelly was awful tonight. No shots on goal, -1. That's not contributing.

The Sens did roll four lines. Only four players played less than 13 minutes. Ruutu was the only one under 10 minutes.

Gord Wilson talks up Kelly because they are neighbours.

What a frustrating game, I haven't yelled at my TV like that in a long time. Overall they played really well I think, sometimes Dung happens.

We lost to Tim Thomas again.

At least Toronto lost, so I feel a little better. GAME DAY: Boston Bruins @ Ottawa Senators - 7:00pm ET - Sat. Oct. 24th, 2009; and post game debate - Page 9 95132

Ruutu/Kelly/Donovan were domiante every time they were on the ice together. Breaking up that 4th line was beyond stupid. 100% on Cluston. Ruutu had 5 points playing with those 2, Donovan had a goal and an assist and Kelly had a couple helpers as well. SO WHY THE HELL DO YOU PUT SHANNON THERE?! He hasnt done a friggin thing but drag that entire line down and force the other 3 lines to play a little more.

Do mistakes not exist in your world?
I love Fisher's game, but you have to admit that's 2 games in a row he has pulled a Mezaros. I call guys out when they screw up, and in the last 2 minutes, you can't afford mistakes like that.

No you can't; and depending on how you define playing the game, that may have been a boneheaded move. Assuming the "the game is 90% mental" philosophy, that mistake could be more mental than anything physical, but I choose to chock it up to a mistake made in a split-second of a game that is decided on split-seconds. Dung happens. I can't blame him for losing his concentration for a split-second. It happens and he doesn't make those mistakes often.

Again, it's because he trusts him on the point on the PP. Once Kuba is back he loses his role back there and hopefully in the lineup. If Kuba comes back and Shannon stays in the lineup, I will be seriously questionning Clouston's rationale, but until then I get it.

Karlsson had a pretty solid game though.

Exactly.  I didn't see the game, tough to tell over radio but it sounded to me like out top two lines played extremely well, Cheechoo included.

Then you understand the way it feels when a coach doesn't show trust in you when you've played a solid game?

Then Clouston is an idiot because the PP Diddling sucks and it has all year. You need a threat from the point and there is nothing there with Shannon. We have as any SH goals as PP, that's on the frigging coach.

Either way it is unacceptable. Regardless, I really liked the way the guys played tonight. It's nice to see them playing physical throught 60 minutes rather than picking and choosing their spots.

No but that would have been appropriate too. I'm just upset. I don't like swearing in English in case i'm in earshot of children. When i'm in Ottawa, due to the bilingual nature of the city, I swear in spanish.

I don't disagree with you, but the only other options are Alfie or Carkner IMO.

This team has started to struggle when the ability to roll 4 lines disapeared. People might not think that taking DOnovan out of the lineup is a HUGE deal, but I do.
