Another thing to remember, contracts are awarded on offensive statistics and that is one thing in our favour.
Regehr, Komisarek, Beauchimen -- all comparables with Volchenkov, all defence-first Dmen, all with low offensive stats (i.e., about 20 points on the year), all signed for in between $3.7-$4.2 mil.
Volchenkov at Kuba money would be ideal, honestly. Someone would pay him more than $4 mil on the open market, 100% for sure. What would, for instance, WAS give up for a guy like him? Half the farm, or the whole thing?
We'll take Brooks Laich and Karl Alzner/John Carlson/Oskar Osala.
