You know my thoughts.

I don't think you have to worry anymore, I think he's got at least another year of AHL to go - especially after this season so far - and the fact that Brust is playing lights out right now.

On that note, might be wise for Murray to sign Brust. He's still not eligible for a call-up right?

He's not signed by the Ottawa Senators as of now, he's strictly on an AHL/ECHL contract. As it stands the Sens have 47 players under contract - and no team can go over 50 contracts.

If they feel they need him, they will, but my opinion is that they'll let Brodeur walk in the summer and sign Brust to a 2-way contract.

He's been dynamite for the B-Sens!

You have to admit that this season is not the best for his develpment right now. In Junior, he would have had only one thing to worry about, play lights out.

Don't get me wrong, I love that he played his way into the AHL, I expected nothing less from him; he earned that! No way you could send him back to Junior after the camp he had. But that is where the problem starts, and it is a problem that the Sens had to know was coming if the keep him in the American league.

Leclaire gets hurt, and up comes Lehner. Practicing hockey with NHL players in a great learning experience, but for an extended period of time, bad habits will creep in and becoming forming and/or rust sets in. Lehner has so little game experience this year it is not even funny. The carousel is not even close to being over either.

I cry when I think about it actually.

It may have just been a bad set of circumstances. Honest question: who would you think gets the call if Brodeur was healthy when Leclaire went down?

I doubt he gets called up the NHL again frankly. I think it's Brodeur as soon as he's healthy.

Honest answer - as I always give - Brodeur.

It's easily Brodeur. Easily. He came up last year, had success, is good enough to play some games at the NHL level (not many though).

Slam dunk, unfortunately he's still dealing with the concussion issues.

I didn't mean to imply you had been dishonest in the past. I meant to convey that I was not trolling or leading you to the answer I wanted; I simply was curious. And that's also why I didn't put in my own belief, which was also Brodeur.

Haha. That is the way I understood it as well. Sorry for the confusion.

Ding Ding Ding.

The AHL is not a developmental league, those teams need to win to generate revenues so Kleinendorst (sp?) will go with the hot hand, and based on the way Brust has been playing and the way we know Brodeur can play is there even room? Obviously Lehner is the most talented but that doesn't necessarily make him ready (or at least ready compared to the other 2)

I think Brust will be sent down personally. Ottawa has significant pull on what Bingo does with their lineup. Ottawa's Assistant GM runs Bingo and if management want Lehner to see some games then Brust will be back in the ECHL once Brodeur is healthy. The question then becomes does Lehner get it together to earn enough starts to really have an opportunity to improve this season?

Of course Brust will get sent down.

I just wish Bingo wasn't in a situation where they would have to send down their #1 goalie and the guy who has been one of their top players overall for the sake of developing Lehner when he could be playing the OHL right now and focus on winning games (something he could do since he's be guaranteed top playing time down there).

speaking of Lehner, what are the chances he gets to play in the world jrs? I don't know how the swedish squad works but my guess is they're going to see the numbers of who is performing and unfortunately, Lehner will be nowhere near worthy.

Still some time but I hope if sweden wants him, the sens allow him to go.

I would think he has a solid chance. He was their goalie for that summer thing, and played the back to back games vs the US. What's more is he got blown out in game 1, and they showed the confidence to put him into game 2.

In the least, he should get a chance to tryout, and there he should wow them.

If Wamsley, Coach KK and the Murrays feel the same, then something will be done to get Lehner more developmental time. As I've said, this has been a weird year and Brust has been awesome, so what to do? Lehner played well last game by all accounts, but to unseat Brust? Sounds like not the greatest idea IMO.

ECHL would be fine for a month or two.

Exactly. What he needs right now, more than anything else, is reps. Lot of starts to get back in a groove. Where that happens is almost secondary.
