Interesting tidbits;

“Obviously, I can see the end coming because I’m not going to sign another contract after this one,” Alfredsson said yesterday. “I’m trying to get this team in the right direction again and, hopefully, finish off with some really good years and being back in the playoffs and fighting for the Stanley Cup.” Why is he so sure he won't sign another contract? You never know...

Senators coach Cory Clouston says Alfredsson, who has been skating on a line with Milan Michalek and Jason Spezza during training camp, looks as good as ever.

“He’s got a smile on his face, he’s practising well,” said Clouston. “And you’re only as old as your body is and I think he’s in as good of shape as he has been in a long time.” Very good news, considering we can play him for less minutes and keep his energy levels high.

G Pascal Leclaire will play the entire game tonight. “I’m very happy with him. Physically he’s where we need him to be and mentally he’s very close,” said Clouston. “We’ll give him this one more game and he should be really sharp. He’s got an ability to have a calming presence, he’s got a great personality for the position that he plays. He’s a little bit looser than other goalies and he’s a little bit quirky at times, but I think he’s really good for the dressing room.” ... We can only hope that he stays healthy, we should be golden if he does.

Begin is a little further away from returning.

good test for our forwards, Chara won't be able to play against all 3 of our scoring lines GAME DAY: Preseason - Boston @ Ottawa - 7:00pm ET - Fri. Sep. 25th, 2009--PLUS afterthoughts... - Page 5 668437
Agreed... this should be a good test for them. Let's put it all together tonight.

Game time is coming quick. I'm excited to go to this game. It'll be my second pre-season game of the year and I'm in Row B 100 level on the corner. 1 hour and 20 minutes and I'm off for the day! It's the weekend and then it's time to go to the game after that. GAME DAY: Preseason - Boston @ Ottawa - 7:00pm ET - Fri. Is Thomas in net tonight? am thinking this will be a pretty tight game.
Thomas played last night... I doubt it.

Maybe Rask?
Looks like Thomas is in net tonight...

Bruins play tomorrow night as well. 3 games in 3 days for them.

trying to get Thomas in season form I guess they are, hope we can catch them tired a bit, get the legs going early Sens and get them into penalty trouble, then let Kovalev bury them on the PP.

This will be a really good test for the Sens. Chara in, Thomas in, Kuba out. Boston has played well this pre-season and Ottawa is still trying to gel as a team. If Ottawa comes out hard and can withstand the Bruins forecheck that is a good sign. I'll try not to read anything into what happens in pre-season though. If that made any sense then let me know.

I am sending this off to HAL for analysis right now, will have the results back in 3 months due to lack of processing power. I think I understand what you are saying though, it should be a good test, but since again these are not games that count, may not be a true indicator of either team.

I think it was 3-2 Boston in a shootout but I could be wrong.

Thanks shabbs. I knew it was low scoring and it was a shootout.

Yeah, I have a feeling. But if Cheechoo gets going, it's all good.

I'd take that, it's not about the win but the individual playes at this point, Cheechoo needs to get on the board.

It'll prolly take the Sens a week or two into the season to really get going.
