Jabbing? Lucic whacked Neil in the nuts.

Absolutely, his knees buckled... I gotta lay down just thinking about it.

I was referring to the yapping before hand.

Aren't we all aware that the instigator rule is only for meat heads who pick on super stars?

Yeah, Lucic is a dirtya$$ SOB...tried to neuter Neil...so no wonder that the refs stood back at let 'em go at it. Neil is gonna want a piece of Lucic all season long.

BTW Carkner was good and mean last night. Keep him in on board.

Dave, right there, what you just said is why you want Neil on your team. Fighting Lucic takes the guy off the ice for 5 plus mins for a guy who plays on your 4th line, not a bad trade off.

What does that allow The Sens to do? They can be more agressive, they can move the puck a lot easier without the fear of a nasty forecheck coming in, and they dont have to worry about moving that guy from in front of the net, Hopefully Neil can stand his own 5 or 6 times this year.

Absolutely, I think Carkner is exactly what they are looking for on the backend. Plus he is a true heavyweight who can take the pressure off Neil. I am certainly pulling for him and Karlsson. They will have to make a few moves to keep him though. I think Schubert has played his last game in a Sens uni. Donovan may not be far behind. I think they may wave both to see if there are any takers but may not send them down so as to be exposed to re-entry issues.

Karlsson and Regin are on the team, haha, no need to pull for them. Carkner is a bit of an underdog at this point. Murray is gonna have to make some moves. So when does Schubert get waived? I say Tuesday morning.

Yo Neely, no argument there...$2Mil a year's a lotta green for Neil, but it is what it is.

Seems to me the NHL is much nastier this year...at least from what I have seen so far. Maybe it's that the competition for jobs is getting tougher...but there have (it seems) been lots and lots of fights and some pretty brutal headshots.

So the Sens need some tough guys with skill to match. Carkner looks like the genuine article. They could use another guy (besides Neil) like that up front IMHO...like a Ben Eager type.

The shot to the nads could have been called a spear. All Neil had to do was double over. I've seen similar plays called exactly that way.

Pushing and shoving and jockeying for position is one thing, but that could have easily been two extra minutes.

Prager>you know Neil would NEVER 'double over' to draw a penalty.

Chris Neil is not a girly man.

Hypnosis, I assume.

What goes on at these "team-building" retreats? Do they take the La BĂȘte Humaine approach and have players get blackmail on each-other? GAME DAY: Preseason - Boston @ Ottawa - 7:00pm ET - Fri. Sep. 25th, 2009--PLUS afterthoughts... - Page 14 668437

Probably more like the Animal House approach. Blackmail is most definitely involved.

I hope Spezza realizes he's not allowed to be Luigi anymore.

Just watched the Neil fight and wow! Did he ever own Lucic! You take that 15 second grace period where he was recovering from getting hammered in the junk and he laced the kid!

Awesome!

Neil is the man, the guy is showing his worth and showing how much he truly cares. Thank God we have him because this team would be lost without him.

I'm just grateful he's on the fourth line and not the second. He's good at what he does, but he's been miscast so many times.
