I don't see a dog house. I see very run-of-the-mill 3rd line minutes, and a shortened bench in the second half of the third for a team trying to come back from a 2-1 deficit.

Granted, if he was playing well he would have gotten the minutes, but I just don't think there is a "doghouse" yet.

It's the preseason, I think Clouston was trying to figure out how the kids handled the pressure of being down late in a game. I think he knows a guy who has a 56-goal season on his resume and who's been in the league for the last 7 years can handle that kind of pressure.

That's probably why you noticed Karlsson and Regin taking regular shifts in the last 4 minutes of the game.

Doghouse or not, it doesn't look good at Cheechoo potting 20+ goals so far IMO

What did the top line's ice-time look like? They didn't seem to be on the ice a lot either. I don't think that was a slight against them.

The top line, in different variations, played almost all of the last 4.5 minutes of the game with Karlsson playing the entire last minute.

You can peruse through this to get an idea of who was on the ice near the end of the game:

Here are the stats from last night's games as far as shifts and time on ice...

Karlsson logged nearly 20 min. Clouston spread it around quite a bit it seems.

EDIT: Heh. I see PKC put the link up just before me.

We put up different reports. Mine is the play by play feature of the stats which tells you which players (by jersey number) were on the ice for each team. Yours is the more precise shift breakdown for each player that played for the Sens last night.

I think it looks worse than it was. Certainly a loss for Neil but when you get a full fledged slash in your dangly bits before it starts, it puts you at a slight disadvantage. I am a bit surprised there was no instigator for that. I am not sure what else the instigator is for? whim?

Meh... they were jabbing at each other for a while before it all started... good fight.

There was talk and pushing but it was clear that Lucic was out to settle a score for the Savard hit(s). I am okay with not calling the instigator, don't get me wrong. I am not okay about picking and chosing when you want to.

Jabbing? Lucic whacked Neil in the nuts.

I was referring to the yapping before hand.

Aren't we all aware that the instigator rule is only for meat heads who pick on super stars?

Yeah, Lucic is a dirtya$$ SOB...tried to neuter Neil...so no wonder that the refs stood back at let 'em go at it. Neil is gonna want a piece of Lucic all season long.

BTW Carkner was good and mean last night. Keep him in on board.
