By my count we've now drafted 25 goalies. I'm afraid there's not much left. Islanders, Avalanche, Atlanta are the three that come to mind immediately -- no clear #1 in Colorado, and the other two are likely to be injured for half the season, plus their teams suck. One of the Florida teams must be another one of the five remaining whose #1 hasn't been picked (I can never remember which Florida team has what goalie). And I can't think of the last team off the top of my head.

Regardless, though, those of you who do not already have 2 goalies (which should be about 17 of you) are pretty close to being screwed.

However, maybe there are still moves to be made. Maybe Colorado will go out and sign, oh, I dunno, Fernandez? Or maybe someone makes a pitch for Giguere (I just don't see a $6+M goalie playing backup in this league). Problem is he's got a NTC I think and doesn't he have a special situation with health care for his kid (eye?). Tough call (to pick him) bug I just don't see how you can have him taking up that much cap space and not contributing.

< snap > Just remembered. The other team whose goalie hasn't been picked must be the Leafs. Burke will probably be pushing for Gustafsson to play as much as possible, but it remains to be seen how much that will be. Again, no clear #1 there.

I guess Howie is not back from cottage country until late this weekend. So far he has picked Malkin, D. Sedin and Rafalski. He is in desperate need of a goalie, if not two. However picks for him has to decide whether to pick one or two goalies -- I don't think there are any other alternatives.

There are three clear #1s remaining, but two of them are injury risks. So it should be pretty obvious what Howie's next pick *should* be. The next pick is a tough one though.

OK, this is taking too long. Tuk, did you get any replies other than mine to that PM? Can we take a poll of the answers?

I really don't feel good giving him Elliott, since Leclaire is the #1 (yes, he may get injured, but that is not a guarantee -- I mean, look at Havlat last year).

If I was picking I'd take Mike Smith in Tampa. He played 41 games last year and, although the record was mediocre, he had a SV% of .914. They didn't keep Kolzig as their #1, so I'm guessing that they are planning to go with Smith. Tocchet did pretty well replacing Melrose, so with a full year under him they should do better.

Anyhow, that's my "vote".

Oops. Too busy typing. I don't have that feature turned on that warns you about new posts made since you started your reply. Yest, there's an option for that.

Nice pick by beedub. Forgot all about Stamkos.
