Wow, exactly my story. Got a $20/month plan (special at work), never paid less than $36/month (and that's mostly without going over minutes), and as soon as the 2 years was done I canceled. Three years ago we got a new Montana minivan and it came with On* paid ofr a year, and some free cellphone minutes, so we used that for a while (man, what a horrible, horrible implementation -- dialing consists of fighting with the voice recognition about the pronunciation of some digits, while the kids are killing themselves laughing at me in the back). Anyhow, after the free On* ran out I investigated pre-paid solutions and ended up going with PetroCan mobility. You can get $100 of air time and it lasts a full year. They use the Rogers network, and the phones are unlocked GSM (so I can easily use the phone when traveling in the US by getting a pre-paid SIM card there -- I just won't be able to use the same number as here, not a biggie for me).

Anyhow, no Blackberry or iPhone for me unless I get one for free from work.

HA HA!

If it doesn't serve beer... I'll build an app that does.

Wink

I can just see the iPhone ad: You want it to serve beer? There's an app for that.

The newest blackberry curve (I think it's the 8900) is by far the best. Better than the Bold in my opinion.

That being said, they're more geared towards business people who are constantly sending emails over the device.

iPhone's are for everyday people- and if that's you- you'll find it a MILLION times better. Promised. There's apps for everything.

I've always had a cell phone... and before that... a pager... heh heh. Ahhhh yeah, back in the day we all had pagers. Seems silly looking back now... I remember my first Motorola Flip phone in the early 90s... holy heck it was huge compared to today's devices... and the battery was massive.

How far we've come....

I've got an iPod Touch for the games/apps/media/music/surfing etc... so I think that coupled with the Curve 8900 is the best of both worlds, for me.

wow okay you had it worse than I did, I just can't stand Roger's customer service, had a problem when I had my last contract with them, they didn't give two sweet dungs, just wanted my money whether the phone worked or not, and it didn't, out here there are two providers that I know of, Bell (Aliant) and Roger's, don't care for either of them when it comes to cell's, so will remain without one unless I can find a good prepaid deal.

I love my iPhone. I just wish the plans weren't so freakin expensive.

It is pretty crazy how the monthly bill can add up... and yeah, the data plans for these Smartphones are up there.

Rogers has a special on that gives ya 6GB for $30/month... if you have an iPhone, that's the one to get.

My friend just got an iPhone, and he loves it. Got some ridiculous data plan like 6 or 8 GB per month, but somehow just received a text saying he's used 80% of it. One of the apps he downloaded was a data tracker, and that states he's only used 150MB worth... So now he has to go battle Rogers again. They like screwing him.

Must say my experience with them has been positive so far though.

I got the iPhone 3G when it was first released, and they offered 4GB for $30/month for a limited time. I use my iPhone ALL THE TIME for emails, surfing, youtube, etc. and have never even touched that limit. I think the most I've used in a month was pushing 2GB.

I bought the 3GS and I got the 6Gig for $30 per month. I am like you Jordo, I surf, email, etc all the time and I am no where close to the limit. I think you would have to be downloading movies, etc in order to reach the limit. I do find that I am on my iPhone all the time. (insert addict emoticon here).

So... if BlackBerry addicts are called CrackBerry users... what are iPhone addicts called?

Sorry. Could not resist.

Try this on for size, though.

Gee, I didn't know there was an app for that.

Too funny.

Must have.
