There's probably some truth to this. Murray really will have a hard time bringing Heatley back. The fans hate him, the players won't be too quick to say it's okay, Clouston and Heatley will never see eye to eye now.

I thought that if we gave Heatley the opportunity to show what he can do playing a bigger role, things might be good. But I sincerely doubt that now.

I agree with what you say there Spez, however, I just don't see a deal getting done, and this deal seems to be overly tipped in our favour, that is my opinion anyway. I would love for the deal to go down, but the fact that Hextall has said he doesn't want Heatley because of his character, I can't imagine him doing a 180 and all of a sudden changing his mind, the goal scoring ability aside.

Frolov Spezza Alfredsson
Foligno Fisher Kovalev
Sykora Kelly Neil
Ruutu Moller Shannon

OK, he just lost any credibility he may have had. I don't know much about Moller, but Shannon on the 4th? (Actually, come to think of it, Moller is not a grinder either, I don't think.) Neil on the 3rd? What *is* that 3rd line's goal? Certainly not a shutdown checking line with Neil on the wing. Not a hard checking line with Kelly or Sykora. Not a scoring threat with Kelly centering Neil. It's just a bunch of names thrown together.

Weird.

It is bizarre. Especially since something like

Frolov - Spezza - Alfredsson
Sykora - Moller - Kovalev
Foligno - Fisher - Shannon
Ruutu - Kelly - Neil

Was staring him in the face.

Hextall's nothing in this. This is all about Dean Lombardi going to the Kings owners and saying: this is the guy that we can use to make the playoffs this year. I believe we can begin making it sooner - and maintain a high level until our kids mature as well.

Moller, Hickey/Teubert and Frolov is not too much to ask IMO. Some would say it's comparable to the Oilers deal - although, I love Moller and Teubert, so I would beg to differ.

As for Frolov, he's probably looking for 5 million give or take - and is apparently quite underrated. The conditional pick is nice to have as well.

But overpayment? I don't know about that. Instead of keeping Frolov, they upgrade considerably and pay a price of prospects to do it (which they have an abundance of anyway). Hard to imagine Purcell and Moller making it and getting time to play...

Still not 100% sure why we need Sykora, but that looks a lot better.

We don't. I'd rather give a spot to Regin and see if Moller can play left-wing. Then go:

Frolov - Spezza - Kovalev
Moller - Regin - Alfredsson

And see what the young kids can do.

It was a tough first day for the San Jose Sharks centre Patrick
Marleau at the Canadian men's Olympic team orientation camp in Calgary:
Not only did he have to discuss losing the captaincy of his NHL team,
he was also asked to address a report circulating that he had scuttled
a possible three-way deal with the Ottawa Senators involving Dany
Heatley by refusing to waive his no-trade clause.
"That's
the first I've heard of it, so no truth to it, I guess," Marleau said

of the report in the Orange Country Register. "I haven't heard of it."
However,
when asked specifically if the Sharks had asked him to waive his
no-trade clause, Marleau said he "preferred" to keep that information
to himself
.

I've got an extra step-stool now that the girls can reach the sink to spit out the rinse water.

Is that a kick in the arse to Foligno - although I realize you're trying to keep the FFS line together, there will comes a time when he'll need to grab a spot and hold on.

With that scenario that you posted, where does Winchester go?

:^^^^: It's true too. Clouston's like 5'10 and Heatley's 6'3".

I say skip over Sykora, just put Foligno on line 2, then play another kid on line 3 or Donovan perhap if he is still signed.

You're right. With the re-signing of Neil and the non-trading of Kelly, it's going to be hard to fit guys like Regin and Bass in.

Winchester is on a 1 way is he not? meaning he would have to clear waivers to go back to Bingo or we would have to fit him into this organization, or the worst scenario, trade him. I really like this guy as a energy on the 4th line, hits like a mack truck and a very likeable person.

Makes you wonder about all those Marleau rumours then...

They were 100% true according to a really good source that Clutch and I had. Melnyk apparently loves Marleau and they were finalizing the deal when it all of a sudden disappeared like a fart in a windstorm.

I assume that was when he used him NMC.

Looks like we're "stuck" with Heatley...too bad huh? I can't stand having 50 goal scorers in my lineup.

I hope, with every fibre of my being, that the Sens go on a massive tear with their new and improved team and just tear apart the conference and go all the way.

Assuming health and carried play from last year's season, you can assume some key stats to this effect:

Heatley 45 G, 45+ A
Spezza 35 G, 60 A
Alfredsson 35 G, 45 A
Kovalev 30+ G, 40+ A
Fisher 20 G, 25+ A
Shannon 20 G, 20 A

Leclaire 30-14-9 2.15 GAA 0.919 SV% 7 SOs
Elliott 17-8-4 2.22 GAA 0.920 SV% 3 SOs

I really, genuinely don't think those stats are far fetched.

I guess...I don't see how it's gonna work after his PC last week. Some people don't think that PC mattered at all, but I certainly do. If I heard that and was part of the team that worked their arses off at the end of the year to get some success, I wouldn't be welcoming this prima dona back into my dressing room. Maybe I'd ignore him, but sooner or later the atmosphere of that room is going to start to be pretty strained.

Apparently he has already spoken to his team mated. I'm just sick of speculating about this. If a deal isn't done by this week, it's not going to happen. Murray said a few days it would have to be finalized.
