I think the Sens should see if they can move Heatley, Smith and Picard for Gilbert, Cogliano and Smid.

Would give us cap flexibility and add another very good defender. Of course we'd need that pillock Heatley to waive.

Now I have to look at next year's cap situation. Darn you Pooney. 🇬🇬

Forwards:

**Heatley (7.5)
Spezza (7)
Alfredsson (5.6)
Fisher (4.2)
*Foligno (3)
*Shannon (1.2)
**Kelly (2.1)
*Winchester (1.0)
*Bass (0.6)
Ruutu (1.3)
Neil (2)
Kovalev (5)
*Regin (1.0)
Z.Smith (0.6)

Subtotal: 42.1

Defense:

**Kuba (3.7)
**Campoli (2.5)
*Volcenkov (4)
Phillips (3.5)
Karlsson (1.3)
*Lee (1.5)

Leclaire (3.8)
Elliott (1.0)

Total: 63.4

* = projection
** = trade bait

Yep, Heatley will have to be moved going forward I think.

People worry too much about the cap. I wouldn't worry about the cap, they take all these scenarios into account.

darn the cap, but well, it is something if we keep him, like a few people have said before, SSF said it today, you move him at the trade deadline to a contender.

Yep, no question. Not only do we need to move a big contract (presumably Heatley's, now that he's volunteered), but we need a cap-flexible return to set us up for the following year, especially now that we've brought Kovalev in for 2 years.

So, just for an example, should we still be doing business with EDM, a new deal should look something like, say, Cogliano + Smid + Eberle. That leaves you with a lot more flexibility going forward.

glad to talk if Penner is not included and it's more prospect related, build a better team going forward, not necessarily right now, we have Kovalev for right now.

Please let us wait until the deadline or next summer. His value will start to increase once he has a 65 goal season next year with Spezza and Alfie (and Kovalev on the PP :drooling: ).

Please...we really MUST wait.

if it maximizes return, why wouldn't we wait, if heatley plays lights out because he knows if he does other teams will be chomping at the bit for him, then he can float around if he wants.

Heatley's agents have to be swearing. Before just about any deal was acceptable in their minds. Even if we took more cap back it was ok, because we had the room. Now a deal that looks good from a talent perspective can be shot down due to current and future cap constraints, and that's something they have no opinion on.

I Dung you people not. Unless Dawg's Wife is BeRed; in which case I'd really like for DW to come out and say that, cause i'm getting pretty pissed off right about now.

this is getting tres bizzare to be honest, someone is either trolling around and posting this data as their own, or maybe indeed you are right bass and it's DW, but in that case, information is still getting pirated as DTR's post was quoted.

Now we need to hear from DW on this, for sure.

I see my post came out a little more accusatory towards Dawg's Wife than I had intended, and for this I apologize. I am not accusing DW of anything of the sort, as he/she is the real victim in all of this. I just meant that if he/she is BeRed, I'd appreciate it if he/she would clear the air.

But there hasn't been a post on the other site in a while by BeRed... I will however continue to monitor it. Although if he read and stole DW's posts, then I can be pretty sure that he is reading this.

I have a feeling it is not DW either, she has too much integrity for that, however, there is a mole somewhere and they will fall privy to Spezz's and Clutch's wrath if it is determined who it is.
