I saw some journalist reporting Havlat to LA for 8 years and $64 million.

If so, wow.

Not necessarily. Next year they may have to unload Byfulglien or demote Sopel/Huet to the minors, but not this year.

That would be cap suicide, especially with his injury history. I don't buy that rumour.

Hossa 12 years at 62.4 ouch that will be some team...cap hit 5.2...if more teams go that route makes you wonder what Heatley is thinking with his cap hit being higher...

Yes, if they find a way to dump Campbell for no salary, and are prepared to lose multiple key players (Kane, Toews, Keith, Seabrook etc) in a year or two.

They're gonna have to get a good replacement for Huet. That'll cost 4-5 million, so no, you can't really do that.

I wouldn't worry about Chicago. They'll be fine cap wise. Next year players will be signing for less when the cap goes down.

Three of the best young players at their positions? Keith, Kane and captain Toews? 6 million each minimum.

I doubt they'll want 6M each. Things have changed. Look at the Carter/Richards contracts for likely comparables.

Tough to say, I think they will command top dollar. Some of the best players in the league already.
