Murrays gotta jump on that LA offer if true, Frolov and Schenn plus saving cap space is awesome, anything else is just gravy

I would love to get Schenn, partly because he would be an awesome player, but also because I would love to see the look on Burke's face when Murray called his name.

If we acquire an additional pick today,(for Heatley) should Murray then send a third round pick to Florida for J Boumeister's rights?

Appears L.A. Kings team to beat for Heatley; Alex Frolov, another & the fifth overall pick I'm hearing; No way Wild can beat that

Squeeze 'em Murray..

Heatley won't be traded until tomorrow at the earliest. Murray won't make the trade until he feels he maximizes the return.

As I said earlier, I don't think Bouwmeester is 3-million dollars better than Kuba. To spend something on a pick just to trade that pick is just irresponsible.

At the risk of getting flamed, I will. I am not sold on J-Bouw being a top 5 d-man in this league. He will get paid like one next week, that is almost assured. However, despite his offensive skills and world class speed, he has never put up the type of numbers that really, really stand out. Granted he's been on some bad Florida teams, but the greats stand out, regardless of the talent surrounding them. I don't know if I see that yet in J-Bouw. I could be horrendously wrong here, but I think someone is overpaying big time for this guy on July 1. I hope it isn't the Senators. Earlier in the year, he would have done wonders for us, but now that we've got more offensive talent on the back end, he is way less appealing. Having him in Ottawa would be great, but not at the price of a top 5 d-man. I don't think he's going to get paid any less, unless he secretly has a burning desire to play for a specific team (Edmonton?).

Wouldn't you agree that he could be a number 2 defenseman? I agree that the price tag could be far too high for JBow but who do we have in Ottawa that can be called a top two defencemen? (I think that Phillips and Volchie are great 3-4 pairings.)

I'm not giving a #2 defenceman $8 million a season though.

Oh no question. He's easily a number two. Probably a number one on alot of teams. My position is that he's not a top five guy in the league, and his salary come July 1 should be around the average of the top 5. Too steep in my opinion. Murray could have signed a hometown boy last year in Campbell, but backed off. I don't see why this would be any different (maybe J-Bouw being younger, but I still don't see it).

With Murray not getting bargains out of Spezza, Fisher, Kuba, and Kelly (close to 1/3 of their budget), he won't go after JBo. To succeed in this cap era, you need to find bargains. JBo, as good as he is, won't be a bargain.

The Sens also do not have a 3rd round pick this year.

Now if you trade Chris Kelly for the negotiating rights.....

Even if you trade Kelly, that's roughly 1/3 of J-Bouw's probable salary. Myself, I am happy to wait for our homegrown backend to be rockin' crotches in about 5 years.

I assume it would be Heatley and Auld to Colorado for the 3rd and Wolski?

I don't need to even think about that, done. Wolski and Duchene!!!! Two Battalion, both top 6 players, would be a great tandem in the NHL. If they throw in Cameron Gaunce too, even better.
