The house cleaning continues?

They got rid of one ex-Captain, kept two others. I think one more of them has to go.

They recently let the coaching staff of their AHL affiliate go as well didn't they? And it was over the phone I heard...

you are right on the firing of their AHL staff, not sure of the over the phone part, that is pretty cheap if that is how it went down, the new ownership is flexing some muscle big time eh?

Is he the one who ran the powerplay?

If he did, he lost Souray and Streit in successive years. Plus AK only played when it suited him.

That said, Jarvis was a defensive specialist with a capital D. It would have been strange if he ran the PP.

And of course as soon as I say it, I see this:
http://puckstopshere.blogspot.com/2007/11/nhls-best-power-play.html

This is done with a power play led by Alexei Kovalev, Saku Koivu,
Andrei Markov, Christopher Higgins and Tomas Plekanec. Though these are
solid players, they are not the type of stars one might expect would
lead the NHL's best power play (for example none are NHL superstars or
top scorers). The man who gets the biggest credit for Montreal's power
play success should be assistant coach Doug Jarvis who runs it from the
bench. Jarvis has done a magnificent job setting up a successful power
play without building it around any superstar players. If I had a
coaching opening in the upcoming summer, Jarvis would be on the short
list of people I would want to talk to in order to fill it because of
this success.

probably why it didn't fair too well, compounded by Kovalev being a ghost most of the year.

What I remember reading a couple of years ago was that he knew how to completely dissect a PK because of how good he was defensively.

When Muller stepped up to the podium at the NHL Awards and said "Detwoit Wed Rings" that sealed his fate.

So the question becomes: should we be looking at Jarvis? He seems to be one helluva tactician. I mean, the Montreal powerplay of the past few years hasn't exactly been boasting a bunch of superstars, but it gets the job done.

Yes! He's done a masterful job. I'd love to see Murray go after some top end guys for our staff, like the Alberta teams have. Someone mentioned Tippett as an AC. Yes please!
