There is no alternative to NHL10 it's that good.

No alternative at all.

Even my 13 year old (who abhors all things sports-related) is playing it now with my hockey-obsessed 11-year-old. They are tied 1-1 going into OT as I type this. Earlier they were both playing Little Big Planet (my 13-year-old's Santa score). Based on that, a successful Christmas Smile

Now, as for the girls, that Hannah Montana World Tour Wii game is driving me (my daughters) bonkers. It's supposed to be a two-player game but we can't get the second player going. Googled it and it's pretty much universal. BIH Disney What video game are you playing? - Page 23 555492

Wii Fit Plus is a blast! Got it for my wife for Christmas and she's only been able to get about a half hour with it. Some of the balance games are very addictive. I just spent10-15 minutes with the one where you have to run an obstacle course with rolling logs, swinging balls and moving platforms. My biggest problem is that I jumped a few times (you are not allowed to do that, so when both feet clear the board it stop it immediately) -- in this game it takes you all the way back to the first level. So I kept doing it over and over and over and over. I was exhausted. Seating profusely, ankles and feet aching, my calves will be cursing me tomorrow. And that's just one of a dozen or more in the balance games section. There are plenty of others (yoga, aerobics, strength, the "plus" ones I haven't even seen). And it tracks your progress -- you set a goal to lose or gain a certain amount over a certain time and it charts your progress against that plan. Stepping on the scales just before the feasting began was probably not the best move though Smile

2K's only good points are the creation mode's and the mini-games.

If NHL11 utilizes the gameface technology, watch out - it will be sick. And if they get off their lazy Donkey and put better designed logos with more in depth customization, plus retro logos, I will be very happy. And allow us to enter any name we want for the team name.

We got the EA Sports Active for Christmas, but haven't tried it yet. I got Dragon Age and have played it for 5 hours or so (it's okay so far).

What they need to do is figure out how to get the licensing for amateur players and get real world junior teams in there.

Also, there are several gameplay quirks they need to resolve, but the basis of the game is phenomenal to say the least.

All that stuff is just niggling and nitpicking at an otherwise outstanding sports game.

Some NHL 10 trade ideas:

Sens fans, in my BeaGM mode with the Ottawa Senators (latest roster updates in effect), starting from the draft, I was able to trade Ilya Zubov to the LA Kings for a 1st (5th overall) and 2nd rnd pick. (Used the two 1st rnd picks to take Brayden Schenn & Jared Cowen, and used the two 2nds for Lehner and Wiercioch). I edited the draft class players to cretae Cowen, Lehner and Wiercioch).

During the FA frenzy I traded Lee, Picard and my 1st (2010) to NAS for Shea Weber.

I then traded Cheechoo, Kuba and Foligno to Columbus for Rick Nash and a 1st.

Then traded Campoli to SJ for a 1st.

Also, Adam Larsson is in the game in the SEL on Skelleftea. Benjamin Conz, the Swiss goalie is also in the game in the Swiss league.

Great advice. My son wanted me to put my GM skillz to work for him on his Dynasty or whatever the F they call it now and I failed by thinking you could trade good players for good players or great players for players and picks.

Fisher's underrated too. So I edited him back up to about an 84 where he was last year. Michalek is slightly underrated as well.

Try the trades for yourself, they work. Weber is awesome.

I tried trading Heatley and Phillips for Erat and Weber and it didn't fly.

He's awesome, I just got him and he's a lot of fun, but the best player EASILY is Chara. He smokes dudes all the time, he can shoot, he can make an outlet. I must crumple 3 guys a game in the corner. Some get up...some don't.

Volchenkov is good for crushing guys as well. And Kronwall is the Dung for offense and D.

Really!??!?!? I got Booby Ryan and Getzlaf for Heatley and Zubov. Do you still have Zubov - he's worth a lot.

I am great at lining people up coming across the blueline into the offensive zone. I can make the computer AI go where I want them to everytime. Most of the time I can hold them in the neutral zone long enough that they get frustrated and have to dump it in.

Trades are finicky to work out. You can get a handful of first round picks by trading away Zubov, Lee, Picard, Campoli, Hennessy, Bass.

But as I said Lee + Picard + 1st = Weber.

Trades might not work at certain times of the season, like at the deadline a player's value might go up. Plus salary cap makes things tricky.

I tend to edit some of my players, like Petersson and Regin (horribly underrated at 69).

Yeah. I'm hanging on to him to package with Fisher. What video game are you playing? - Page 23 270956

Is that easy to do?
