Centre Jason Spezza spoke for the first time publicly and stated he just wants Heatley to make a decision.

"If he doesn't want to be here, it's important for him to move on
and for the organization to be able to make a trade," said Spezza.

Guys, I think you are underestimating our blueline. They will be leaps and bounds better than last year. Our goaltending may be as solid as it has ever been or better. Our forwards are....We are so screwed up front.

Did Jason just back the team over Heatley.

look at it this way, sure this might affect our team this year but with so many team close to the cap and not able to put themselves lower does that make us front-runners for Nash or kovalchuck? i mean counting we do somehow get rid of heatley between now and the trade deadline. we could probably do a trade for their rights at the end of next season.

Star centre Jason Spezza told the Ottawa media Thursday that the team would love to have Dany Heatley back next season.

But if the sniper doesn't want to be here, said Spezza, the team should trade him so both sides can move on.

I am not sure if what Spezza said helps our case or not, first time reading it, it looks like Spezz is pointing the blame to Heatley, but then also is saying the team should do whatever it takes to trade him so everyone can move on. According to Murray though, the price has gone up now that 4M upfront part of his salary is paid.

Edit: The first part of what I wrote is a repeat of what ElliottRules posted, I apologize for that.

Our defensive is built to be very offensive, but without the forward having the ability to keep the puck in the other teams zone, a smaller defense is gonna get run big time.

Well he can't back team Canada over Heatley.

and things getting more interesting as per sportsnet.ca and possibly a bit nasty

Though Senators general manager Bryan Murray says that owner Eugene Melnyk has already made the $4 million payment to Heatley, it is conceivable that the NHL Players’ Association would not stand in the way of Edmonton — or any other team that traded for Heatley — reimbursing the Senators for their $4 million, should the Senators grieve the situation.

If Heatley is on Team Canada, I'll be cheering for Sweden.

Dont think for a second the NHLPA is doing this because they feel bad for The Sens. This is 100% to protect the players and Heatley for the sh it storm that could very well be coming if this gets uglier.

oh it will get uglier before it gets any better for sure, Heatley will look like garbage after all this, he is already hated by us, the rest of the league's fans will be hating him too very soon. That is not a guy I want playing for the Canadians for the olympics.

The deal to send Dany Heatley to Edmonton is dead.

Unless the Edmonton Oilers are willing to increase what they're going to pay for the disgruntled Senators winger, Heatley won't be going to the Oilers anytime soon.

"It's different now," said Murray. "I don't know whether we will continue or not. During the day, I will talk to Steve Tambellini again. Very definitely it's not the same deal it was yesterday."

Heatley refused to approve a deal at midnight that would have sent him to the Oilers in exchange for Dustin Penner, Andrew Cogliano and Ladislav Smid.

Murray said he had been given permission by Heatley's camp to speak to Edmonton on the weekend.

"They told me the circumstances had changed and implied that I didn't have permission to speak to Edmonton," said Murray.

Murray said there were no good offers.

"If you call around the league you will find out there were many calls made and many options made available," said Murray. "There were not a lot of teams that were interested in making an offer. In a couple of cases the offers were not very good and in one case they were insulting."

Centre Jason Spezza spoke for the first time publicly and stated he just wants Heatley to make a decision.

"If he doesn't want to be here, it's important for him to move on and for the organization to be able to make a trade," said Spezza

I didn't see the part where Murray gave Spezza Heatley's 'A'

I can't imagine you will see that, Spezz is not ready for that yet, if it wasn't for the language issues, A-Train should be the other A on the team.
