I'd love to see how our taller Gonchar stacks up against the competition. Wouldn't it be shiny* if our prospects were voted best defenseman in two tournaments in a row?

* Yeah, I've been re-watching Serenity the last couple of weeks.

If you are talking Weircioch, not sure when he will be ready, but a lot of guys around here figure 2011

Wiercioch is the taller one. I'm looking forward to seeing him a the Junior Worlds. I believe he is committed to college for next season. Who knows after that. If he gains 15-25 pounds he'll be around Brisebois' build, and look how lon that guy lasted. He might push for a spot in 2010/11.

oh exciting times are upon us as Sens fans, even after the heatley trade is completed and we hopefully get our huge return that we are all hoping for, no matter which team it comes from.

Cronie wrote:after reading this morning's interesting article from Don Brennan (believe me, I'm FULLY aware that I just put Interesting and Don Brennan in the same freakin' sentence) I think the joke could very well be on Heatley.

Now, Granted, Burke is no saint, in fact, as a good friend pointed out, I believe he acquired Pronger under similar circumstances, or close to it, so for him to say what he said about Heatley is what it is; however, I'm sure a LOT of players and GM's are thinking: "What's with this guy? He demands a trade after he and his big-arse salary gets called out in the locker room and he gets moved to 2nd unit pp time because Clouston thought it would work (and it sure seemed to work for the most part IMO) so essentially, Heater may have shot himself in the foot.

Now, his contract is HUGE and it won't be easy to move but if the right return is there, I think Murray and from what I'm hearing, the FANS too will be ALL the more happy to be rid of him; not to mention a close friend/source was telling me Neil's reaction is the proverbial 'tip of the iceberg' in terms of the other Sens players reaction to cry-baby heatley's antics...

Now look Cronie.

In with some rumours. C'mon!! 🇬🇬

sorry about that Heater... here goes

Word is Phillips, Fish, Neil (duh!), Foligno and believe it or not, Volchy and Shannon are NONE too pleased with Heatley's antics, and one friend of mine says his source told him that a certain player (he did NOT give a name, although I begged and pleaded but I think you can all deduce on your own) actually said something along the lines of "as soon as that 'cancer' is excised, this team can grow and move forward."

Now, I'm not saying this is true, as it is 2nd hand info, but for what it's worth, it does come to me from a good guy who has been solid in all my dealings, so take it for what it's worth.

Thats what I've been saying for the past 2 years! I definitely believe it.
Heatley's a tool and his negative and selfish attitude shines through in even his most jovial interviews.

As I and others said immediately after this news came out: This is the best thing that can happen to this organization.

I completely agree. It's funny because even though there are still some Spezza haters out there, a friend of mine and I cracked me up so bad when he so eloquently said: "f**K! we were hating the wrong douchebag this WHOLE TIME!!"

But seriously, this is potentially the best thing to happen to the Ottawa org, while the loss of offence could potentially REALLY frickin' hurt, if it calms the room down once and for all and the Sens roster is filled with players who 1) WANT to be here and 2) want to WIN here, then I'm ecstatic.

Heatley, take your douchebag attitude and that bentley of yours and get the hell out of dodge pal. You got your megadeal, so stop pretending... F.O.A.D!!!!

ahh, you know I aim to please. hehe

From the sounds of it, Heatley will be wearing a jersey with a CROWN on it, according to some, FOR SURE!!! but no one can nail down the return. I've heard what you've all heard. Hickey, Teubert, Frolov, etc...

ARGH!!!!!

Rögle BK?

Bryan Murray Vs Dany Heatley: Who Blinks First? - Page 9 Rogle

If he's threatening to go to Sweden, we're in for one dandy of an NMC scuffle. Sarcasm

I can see wanting to play for the Kings, but the rumours that he doesn't want to play for Calgary or Edmonton are a bit confusing to me.

I posted an item about Radulov's decision to bolt to the KHL rather than honour his contract with the Preds.

While some might dismiss this as an option for Heatley, it may be worth keeping an eye on that possibility...for the reasons I enumerated in my earlier post.

There might be also be room for an 'arrangement' whereby all parties could get their wish.

Just as Emery was bought out by the Sens, and returned to the NHL as a Free Agent, it's not impossible that Melnyk and Murray could negotiate a deal with Medvedev to compensate the Senators for a 'loan' of Heatley to the KHL for a year.

In the meantime, Murray could continue to work on a deal and Dany could take a 'paid vacation'...receiving his $8MM from the rich folks in Russia.

With so much money at stake, who knows what can happen...

I really, really doubt that happens. I think they're more likely to make him play here than send him to the KHL.

And the team loses the services of a 50 goal winger without anyone to replace him? Surely you jest. If, and I say IF, this were to go down, I can't see there being an escape clause that allows Heatley to jump back to the NHL when a trade does go down. What Russian team would want to not only pay a guy $8 million, but have to take on the risk of him bolting on quite literally no notice? My bet....not one.

What are the Sens supposed to do to replace Heatley's offence in this loan of Heatley for a year? That's not even a gaping hole in our offence...it's a crater.

This doesn't even consider the fact that Bettman might be very against an NHL franchise negotiating a loan with a KHL team. If you ask me, it could set off a bad trend where crappier teams basically rent their assets off to the highest bidder. Much like European football.

Hemlock> I am not jesting. And I am not suggesting that Heatley will go to the KHL.

Read my post--as well as my earlier one on the subject--again.

I am saying that, given the enormous amount of money Melnyk paid out and is obliged to pay under the terms of the contract, a 'deal' with the KHL could serve to alleviate his financial burden.

It would not be the first time an NHL team has attempted to 'loan' a player to the KHL.

Ask yourself this:

If Murray can't trade Heatley for whatever reason, is it better to have an eight million dollar player sulking or sitting on the bench, or to receive millions of dollars in return for having him play in Russia in the meantime?

Again, these are merely hypotheticals, for purposes of our discussion.

I don't know man, when the new york Islanders beat you 3/4 times with the big 3 on your roster, anything is possible...

I did ask myself and the only reasonable answer is that he Wing Dang Doodle and whines, while playing in Ottawa with 2 premier forwards until we can acquiesce to his majesty's request.

Melynk is a billionaire, and more importantly, a passionate hockey fan. Unless a KHL team made a ridiculous Ronaldo-style offer for him, I can't see him wanting to leave the Sens with a gaping hole in their offence. Particularly when we aren't exactly flush with secondary scoring. I don't think he's takes the money and ships Heatley to Siberia. It would send the wrong message to the fans imo. That's not even counting my earlier point about the league probably not wanting to set this precident.
