Word is Dickey wants a 2-year $25M extension. They have 72 hours to finalize the extension to make the deal work. If not, deal is undone.

If that $$ is true, it's a done deal.

There's way more to this deal apparently. There's another big time prospect going to the Mets, Noah Syndergaard. Also going is John Buck - which is a $$ dump. Toronto is getting Josh Thole are well, a serviceable, 26 year old catcher who has a career batting average of .260.

There's also rumours of a prospect coming Toronto's way.

Yeah, here are the others rumoured:

Both other prospects are said to be non-elite.

Non elite, so nothing too important. I guess they traded buck for Thole to catch Dickey and save $$.

Nice to see "loose lips JP Ricciardi" still ruining things for the Jays. No doubt he's the one behind these leaks. He's currently the special assistant to the Mets GM. AA must be pissed at all that.

Syndergaard seems to be the key to this trade. Top pitching prospect for the Jays.

I'm sure this will get done. Just a matter of getting that extension done.

With Happ as the 6th starter/long reliever. Pretty damn impressive.

I wonder if this would be the first time a reigning Cy Young winner doesn't start on opening day.

Per ESPN...

R.A. Dickey's extension with the Toronto Blue Jays is complete at two years, $25 million, according to Buster Olney. He has landed in Florida for a physical at the Blue Jays' spring-training facility.

GM Alex Anthopoulos visited Dickey at the knuckleballer's Nashville home, according to the Toronto Star.

Well, they may have the best rotation in the majors now. Their ace from last year is now filling the 4, 5 spot.

The only thing that bothers me is Dickey's age, otherwise this was a huge move to bolster an already very impressive lineup.

What's even better right now is that Happ is in the bullpen in long relief, so when there are injuries, we have a legitimate starter to fill in, very impressive stuff.

Delabar and Lincoln were huge additions last year to the Jays bullpen, Santos hasn't pitched yet for any period of time either, Jansen was amazing last year, Loup was great. Hopefully Oliver comes back.

I see the lineup as:

Cabrera
Bautista
Encarnacion
Lawrie
Rasmus
Lind
JPA
Benafacio

Pretty damn impressive.

EDIT: Not to mention Gose and David Cooper - both are young studs IMO. If Lind falters at all at 1st, Cooper will snatch his job once and for all. Ditto Bonafacio in LF (I assume), Gose will snatch that if he falters as well.

Turns out there's an option for a 3rd year @ 12 million. Great deal.
