I want a ruling from Rooney on this one. It just doesn't make sense that after the money is paid out you don't count it. I can see not counting it before it's guaranteed to happen, but it's got to be applied as soon as it's paid, so it goes against the next year's cap. In the last year of the CBA they had to count it regardless because they didn't want any thing outstanding in case the new CBA changed the cap situation in any substantial way.

The bonus paid to players can be deferred to a certain percentage of the cap to the next year's salary cap. However, it must be paid the following year, the same bonus that was deferred can't be further deferred.

I'm not certain what the allowable transfer is, but it's something close to $2-million.

Most teams will apply the bonus to their team's cap at the end of the season once they've figured out all of their finances.

That didn't apply to this season though. Every bonus or extra dollar earned on a SPC counted against the cap, because there was the possibility that the CBA could have been reopened by the players association. Now that the CBA will go on for a few more years, I believe that this can be done for the next few seasons.
