Rooting for the Leafs or Habs is a tough one though... and these days, I'd be rooting for the Leafs ahead of the Habs if it came down to it. I'm not even sure I'd root for the Habs if they were the last Canadian team left.

Harsh? Maybe... it's just how I feel.

I know EXACTLY how you feel, and I share the sentiment.

Although, specifically, my issue or problem stems with HAB fans, not the team itself, although I find I don't like the team mostly by default.

While everyone is allowed to have some self-confidence and healthy egos, being downright rude and c*cky and sheer arrogance are surely no substitute, and since I am smack-dab in the middle of Hab and Leaf nation, I experience their vitriol daily! When the Sens suck, for instance, I'm one of the FIRST to admit it, and rightfully so, as no one has ever accused me of wearing rose-tinted glasses. I'm not a pessimist per se, but a realist. Now, as it was mentioned before, these homering Hab fans seem to forget the bad times when things look up, but if I were them, I'd certainly be afraid of the injuries to Markov and Schneider going into the post-season.

Anyhow, even if the Habs were the LAST canadian team in contention, I just cannot nor could I bring myself to root for them. I just...can't do it. Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, even Toronto but not Montreal.

I can't put into words how much I hate the Habs. Beating them would feel fantastic, losing to them would suck, but it would benefit us.

Let's do it tonight though. I'd love to see Price have a jolly good Crying.

Again...words can't possibly describe my level of hatred for the team and especially their fans. squirrel

I understand and can certainly relate to the sentiment that a Canadian team winning the cup is preferable. However, I can't help but feel selfish in thinking it should be the Sens first. It would sting me if another Canadian team won the cup before Ottawa. Once Ottawa wins a cup I may be able to route for another Canadian team should the scenario we find ourselves in occurs again.

Damn straight! This is the way I've always felt.

I have to agree with Jordo. I think with Markov and Schneider out, that certainly increases the Sens odds of a victory, no?

Plus, I'm curious as to what the verdict or prognosis is for those two, as the Habs org is keeping quite the tight lid on it.

Canadiens to play Senators tonight without Markov, Schneider

MONTREAL -- The Montreal Canadiens will be without defensemen Andrei Markov and Mathieu Schneider for Monday's game against the Ottawa Senators.

Both players, the team's top two point men on the power play, could also miss Tuesday night's game against the Rangers in New York.

Markov and Schneider were injured in Montreal's 6-2 victory over the Maple Leafs in Toronto on Saturday night. Schneider has what the team calls an upper body injury while Markov is believed to have injured his right leg.

Doug Janik was called up from the club's AHL affiliate in Hamilton and was paired with Ryan O'Byrne. Janik was acquired Feb. 26 from Dallas, where he'd played 13 games.

Leaf fans have simmered in the past year or so as reality sets in for them and Habs fans have gone to ultia-obnoxious levels I've never seen before, as far as I'm concerned. The whole Jesus Price, 100th anniversary, we got the All-Star game, we got the Draft, we are the best, give us the Cup, why bother even competing crap from their fans certainly put them on the top of my hate list.

now THIS deserves an Amen! Tantrum

I don't hate the Habs. I love the organization. I don't like many of the current players (Kovalev, both Kostitsyns, Lapierre, Kostopoulos). But the biggest reason I want the Sens to beat them is the fan base. I can't stand the Ole Ole on any night, but to hear it in *our* barn, before the game was evern 3 minute old, that is an arrogance of Biblical proportions. They are more arrogant than David Caruso, more obnoxious than Celine Dion. The only cure for such arrogance is gigantic lesson in humility, but missing the playoffs something like 3 of 5 years seems to have only made them worse. I am at a loss as to what will be required to set them straight. So until I come up with something appropriate, I'll just have to cheer my a** off against them.

With apologies to my father in law, one of the few remaining *good* Habs fans.

Habs play the Rangers tomorrow night... back to back regulation losses would be SO SWEET and have them on the fringe again.

CANADIENS' MARKOV OUT FOR THREE WEEKS, SEASON OVER FOR SCHNEIDER

4/6/2009 18:16ET TSN.COM

The defence corps for the Montreal Canadiens took a major hit Monday, as TSN learned that the Habs will be without leading scorer
Andrei Markov for three weeks and Mathieu Schneider's season is over.

Both players underwent x-rays and MRI's earlier in the day after being injured during Saturday's victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The team has yet to reveal the nature of either's injuries.
RDS is reporting that Schneider will likely have to undergo season-ending surgery while Markov would likely return by the end of the month.

It would be a major hit for a Montreal team that has suddenly rounded into form after struggling earlier in the year. Markov, who suffered the injury in the third period Saturday when he was drilled by Leafs' forward
Mikhail Grabovski, leads the team with 64 points, while Schneider was the Habs big acquisition prior to the NHL trade deadline.

The Canadiens face the Senators Monday night in search of their fourth straight victory. The team currently sit seventh in the Eatern Conference, three points ahead of the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers. Montreal is also just one point back of idle Pittsburgh for the East's sixth spot.

You know, when we were in a similar situation last year, it was a game against the Leafs where we lost Alfie and Fisher heading into the playoffs.

Weird.
