If I may so Cory, whatever you're preaching or feeding these boys, keep it up! I loved what I saw last night. It looked like a Sens team that was not only difficult to play against, but annoying as hell to boot!

Winchester, what can I say? Great signing by Murray. Boy oh boy he sure loves to throw his weight around.
Comrie is looking a little softer than I remember him back 2 years ago; but Brian Lee... Jebus! Way to bring Lapierre down.

Seriously, I didn't recognize these guys, and whatever Clouston said or did to get Heater going, keep it up; and for that matter, make sure Heatley understands it is NEVER o.k. to look aimless or listless on the ice. EVER!!
I hear ya. Ruutu had the Habs fans seething with rage, as did Neil. It was so awesome to watch them rage against Ruutu, Neil, the refs, anyone they could blame for the loss but themselves...

Hmmm... brought back some memories of the SCF...

Yeah, that cracked me up a bit.

And I'm tired of hearing my office Hab fans complaining about Heater's non-call on the high stick, and the cross-check. Honestly, I think I saw it as being even on the non-calls last night, PLUS, for the 3rd game in a row, MTL was awarded a Penalty shot! They had EVERY opportunity to put the game away...

By the way, did the call on the penalty shot *really* go against Auld? The cameraman kept zooming in on Shannon, who was too far back when he dove, and didn't even touch Higgins. The announcers thought it was on Auld because he missed the puck on the poke check. But the poke check wasn't what made Higgins fall anyway. He was lunging forward to get to the puck before Auld himself, so he was way off balance.

Personally, I don't think that was the right call.

quite honestly, I just assumed it was that Auld poked Higgins feet instead of first touching the puck, as Galley hypothesized last night.

I could be wrong, and looking back at the highlights, it sure looks like Higgins was wobbly to begin with... Tough call, but considering how the rest of the game went (ie calls and non-calls) I take that into consideration and assume everything evened out for the most part; although don't ask a Hab fan, as they'll say the Ontario Refs handed the Sens the game, bla bla bla... LMAO!!

Yeah, on the replay, Auld certainly didn't cause Higgins to go down - I was under the assumption Shannon brought him down. I'll have to check it again.

Seems like there were some non-calls on both sides and the Habs did have a lot of chances to put it away. They have no one to blame but themselves. If blaming the refs and injuries helps them sleep at night... then whatever.

Rumours are flying that Schneider is actually OK and may play tonight and that Markov is not as injured as first thought and that Hamrlik may miss tonights game. Who knows...

EDIT: I just re-watched it, Auld most certainly brought him down as his stick pokes out Higgins' right foot. Higgins was swerving to go around Auld and Auld poked his foot out from underneath him. Good call.

I do. But at the very least we can look ahead to potential line combos for next year, but yeah, this season has been one big what if for the Sens.

Excuses are for the weak and the soon to be eliminated. The sooner the Habs' fans start to break the games that they lose down and try to see where they succeeded and failed, the sooner they'll have a better grasp of what's happening - and what will happen.

I'd say a team's fan base can blame the refs perhaps once or twice all year. The other games - that's the way it goes. You have to fight through that and learn - complaining will only get you eliminated quicker.

am loving that we put a serious threat into the habs playoff lives, now its time to root for the Rangers, Bruins and Pens, but for one game each only. Hopefully Ryder lights up the habs in their game.

Damn did the Sens play physical tonight.Winchester was hitting anything that moved, Foligno was awesome as usual. And Volchenkov... If he could run the PP and shoot like Shea Weber or Phaneuf, he could have been the best Defenseman in the league. That guy's competitiveness is unmatched on this roster.

Does anyone know the final hit count, Ottawa was pounding the body all night.

ESPN has the hits as 42-22 for the Sens.

The NHL.com site doesn't seem to include those details in the stats...

Who tracks hits officially?

i believe it was like 39-21 for the hit count in favour of the Sens, what a hit by winchester just before the 2nd goal by heater.

Hits (an all sorts of other goodies) are recorded in the Even Summary. Just change the GS in the above link to ES and you're set:

Heh. You mean Event Summary. I see it now - accessible via the RTSS Reports in the Game-By-Game stats page.

That was an epic hit... So was his hit on Koivu in the dying seconds in our own zone. With him and Cody Bass next year, it might just be enough to fully replace Neil. And for their combined salaries being half of what Neil is asking for, it's hard to go wrong. I will miss Neiler though, he has been good for us.

Too fast to see man. It was the "logical" call.
