No way Lee is here in Ottawa next year, especially if Karlsson comes over. The depth on D in Ottawa has turned into a major asset. One more signing with the cap space we have and the Sens are laughing.

Everyone is talking about how J Bo's production has slipped, well, fact of the matter is he wanted to be traded, it didnt happen, and is more or less sick of it down in Florida, despite a playoff run. This will be the 3rd franchise player to leave Florida in 4 years.

I thought you'd be all over what I proposed earlier. I even addressed it to you. Smile

NAw, because its a fair point, but you put that much tallent on the back end in Ottawa, with the kind of defensive depth we now have... You will have 3 legit D pairs with more offense coming from the back end then we have ever had. 3 lines that can score, and if things break down you have Leclaire and Elliott...

Seriously, in the East, show me a more complete team than that.

We're talking about Ohlund at this point, right?

Ohlund would be a solid piece for sure to play along with Kuba and I would have 0 problems with that and it would make sense from a cap perspective too...

I would take J Bo in a second though over anyone else on the market.

Me too. No one should be under any real illusions about how good he is. He's extraordinary. I just feel: a) we have no shot at him financially or otherwise and b) we may not need to make that kind of extreme commitment with Karlsson and Weircioch being potentially a 1-2 punch in 3 years.

All of a sudden, I love the idea of Ohlund. It's basically because of Clouston and because of Kuba. I've seen the light now, these guys can play within this system and flourish both defensively and offensively. For some reason, I can't shake the fact that Ohlund and Kuba would be dynamite together - and it would work a lot better (assuming Ohlund even returns our calls).

I was semi-against it at first, but now I can see where you were going with the rock solid 6 D-men and depth as well.

No one saw how good Kuba was at the begining of the year and just how smart the guy truly is because of the teams poor play. Again, he was the only D man that was on the plus side of the +/-. I dont put much stock into that stat, but when someone gets that much ice, and is that successful, it says something.

I still think we need that stud D man, but maybe it turns out to be Karlsson in a couple years.

The stud D-man can't be Ohlund backing up Kuba?

There are really very few of us that are expecting it to happen I think. Murray's lucky as Dung that Shannon worked out, he can easily replace Vermette in a full schedule. Comrie would then be delegated to third line duty - and PP 1 or 2. It's great if there are injuries, but it's such a luxury to pay both Chris Kelly and Mike Comrie high dollar amounts to be PKers and glorified PP specialists.

I can't see why or how we can re-sign him and still bolster our D a little. And I'm a huge Comrie fan.

I'm agreeing with you guys here. Murray says he really wants to sign Comrie, and I think Comrie really wants to stay... but I don't think Murray will do it unless he makes another move (to dump salary and pick up a dman) prior to re-signing Comrie. Murray is smart to say he wants Comrie resigned though. You have to show commitment if you want any UFA's to come to Ottawa, even if you're faking it.

You need sincerity. Once you learn how to fake that, you're set.

I really can't see how/why we keep Comrie given how well Shannon is playing.

I tend to agree with that. Unless we can get Comrie at a substantial discount he doesn't fit anymore. I sure would like to have him around on the third line ready to step in if Shannon or Foligno go into a prolonged slump though.

Again, unless its like 1.5 mil, not a shot. You can have Regin, Z.Smith, maybe the kid we draft this year surprises at camp, so on... for a lot less than 2 plus mil.

Comrie is as good as gone IMO and I dont think anyone would really care at the end of the day. Maybe if its a 1 year, 2 mil deal...

That's probably the best scenario anyone can hope for Neely. Good call.

Comrie may want to stay here, and if he's serious about it, then he will have a lighter wallet or portfolio; otherwise, SEE YA!!

As much as I like comrie, you are definitely onto something here prags, Shannon is cheaper, younger, and hopefully more upside than Comrie, and Comrie might be the piece that is out of our price range.

I can see that to be honest. I don't know if he would take it though, but I could see that being the offer and I could see Comrie weighing it very heavily. Which would be good. We could put Regin as Kelly and Comrie's center and we could have 3 legit lines.

One of the only guys to work his arse off last night in Florida. He was instrumental in both goals. The first with a great pass to Chris Kelly ( :****: ), the second he was right up in Anderson's grill when Campoli shot.

Good job getting this thread back on the rails. Foligno continues to impress under Clouston and lets hope it carries over into the 09/10 season :D

He's been really good, it's very exciting. These threads won't die, they might go unused for a while, but they'll never die.
