Briere, Coburn and possibly a pick/prospect.

Tell me this doesn't infuse even more life into the Panthers and Flyers (who might meet in the playoffs, but...hey...what can you do?)

I agree. Florida would have to trade salary out too, though.

Maybe Weiss or Horton. Brière is chummy with Martin. In discussing the Flames speculation, I was thinking we'd be wise to acquire Lombardi and flip him to FLA if Murray has any interest in J-Bo. Lombardi is also a Martin-ite.

Weiss and Horton are pretty big pieces. I think Martin needs to hold on to them and try to acquire Lombardi (good idea). Skratchens on D? Can he go?

Philly is getting ripped off. Coburn is awesome and comes in at a very cheap price right now.

you are right, nothing comes for cheap, not a big fan of Briere ever, Coburn is solid and it depends on the prospect/pick.

With J-Bo coming in...they have one of the best D in the league. You have to give to get. Tough call.

No way they should give up Coburn to get J.Bo. That would be a bad trade, even though they'd be getting rid of Briere's salary.

Kunitz looked very good as a Pen, and he gave Pittsburgh a big spark against the Hawks last night. Now the Pingu Posse has two solid lines. When The Kid comes back I expect they'll catch the rest of the teams shooting for those last two playoff spots, as under Bylsma they're now just one back of the pack..

Should be fun to watch.

^Should add that Toews had a hattrick last night in a losing effort.

Afternoon games:

Brodeur gives up his first two goals since coming back, but the Devils thump the Panthers 7-2 (hey Ek, why the **** would they want Jokinen?)

Zdeno Chara gets his 100th career goal in a losing effort as the Caps defeat the Bruins in OT. Ovechkin with his 45th.

Shanny had a goal and an assist for NJ. That gives him 4 goals and 7 points on the season.

For those keeping track, Sundin has 12 points thus far.

Just saw the OT goal of the Caps-Bruins game...Semin wasn't even inside the blue-line when he scored. And the puck wasn't bouncing around either.

Strange display from Tim Thomas there.

Backstrom had a goal, giving him a 9 game point streak, and it was the 7th time in the last 12 games between these two teams that they needed extra time.

It's bizarre. It just beat him. At least with Toskala's gaffe against the Isles last year (granted it was farther away) the puck was bouncing around and thus genuinely unpredictable.
