Perhaps not. I think the centennial year thing will force Gainey to make a splash. Kuba helps them, but Kuba alone won't change the fact that Kovalev, Plekanec and A. Tits are having subpar years.

How were our draft hopes last year when we ended up with Erik Karlsson?

Not bad, obviously, but we did make a trade to get up to 15th.

Still, would you have rather gotten Karlsson or Doughty?

I'm happy with the last draft, but I'm still hoping for some success for the other bottom-feeding teams.

So if we picked 30th next year because this year was just an anomaly, would you be disappointed?

haha, Murray will get the player he wants, you can bet on that. Murray always gets the guy he wants it seems, well, to a certain point. If we draft in the top 5, we will get the best player IMO, or who will turn out to be the best.

No, picking 30th = Stanley Cup.

The Cup has to be our aim though. My feeling is that by adding elite players on rookie contracts to our team, we'll be better able to accomplish that.

Also, is this season an anomaly?

We've been on this slide since the Detroit game last season IMO.

I think we are worse this year. It's rare that the boys put it all together for 60. The lack of talent, coupled with some lazy efforts make for alot of really unwatchable hockey. Especially on nights when there are other premier matchups on.

Ah well, back to the losing ways....which should make you and I happy, even if we are the only ones lol.

It wouldn't surprise me. Ovechkin has started to catch the league leaders from Pittsburgh also. Semin has 3 points tonight too :x
