Uh...should we not run for the hills on that one? We just got rid of Emery.

Would Chicago trade him for Neil? I am dreaming I know. Almost PPG player that is tough as well, hard to come by.

I thought this guy was regarded as a cancer? He's been suspended twice, has an attitude problem etc. etc. etc.

Very Downie-esque. Am I thinking of the wrong guy?

As per the hockey's future website,

Beach is a big physical force on the ice. He has a nose for the net, is a force on the power play, and will not shy away from dropping the gloves. Beach is as close to a total package as the WHL has to offer. A bruising power forward, Beach is plagued by perceptions of attitude problems. But Beach is capable and he will be given every opportunity to develop as a professional.

I am okay with all that.

Yep, he definitely sounds like he has a future in the Bigs.

and he definitely sounds like one of those guys you want on your side, not playing against him, but there is no way the GM of chicago will accept Chris Neil for him, would have to sweeten the pot a bit. maybe if we threw in Brian Lee or Picard? lol

Kyle Beach has already been tagged as a starter with the Blackhawks next year.

No comparison to Downie. Beach has real talent.

then we have no chance of getting him, and definitely not disagreeing with Murray's first choice last year with Karlsson, so it wasn't meant to be with Beach.

I wouldn't have picked him in that range anyway to be perfectly honest.

Check out these stats (I stole them...again Ahhhhh! )

These are the last four coaches we've had:

Clouston = 17 (9-5-3) = 101 point pace, 3.00 GF/GP, 2.71 GA/GP
Hartsburg = 48 (17-24-7) = 70 point pace, 2.41 GF/GP, 2.95 GA/GP
B.Murray = 18 (7-9-2) = 73 point pace, 2.83 GF/GP, 3.06 GA/GP
Paddock = 64 (36-22-6) = 100 point pace, 3.28 GF/GP, 3.00 GA/GP

Look at Clouston's success rate with the D we have - and the offense we have. I would humbly suggest keeping this squad intact for the most part. Phillips, Volchenkov and Kuba have been playing much better for Clouston. Bell is an excellent 6th D-man IMO, Lee is progressing decently. J.Smith? Who knows, but if we can somehow parlay a couple of these guys into a real number one, I would suggest we're off and running (well maybe that's a stretch, but you know what I mean).

The other day you mentioned that you don't mind Schubert... that got my attention since I couldn't stand watching him play earlier in the season. I haven't really noticed him lately so I payed a little more attention tonight. He's much less visible, getting a little less ice time and playing a simplified game. In fact, quite a few of the players I wanted to ship out of here seem to be playing the kind of hockey that helps the team win.

I'm being persuaded by the team's play. I think this is a team that needs fine tuning (which can include a no 1 bona fide dman). If the rest stays intact I won't have a Dung fit.

Both have real talent. Remember, Downie played for Team Canada at the World Juniors and was an integral member.

Neither has their head screwed on properly, though. I wouldn't want either on my team.

Beach is way more tallented than Downie, bigger, smarter, and actually isnt as bad as everyone says. The general consensus on the guy is he will make a better pro than a junior, which is scary. Chicago may be set up for a looooooooong time upfront.

Bigger, but Downie's got serious talent as well. I don't think he qualifies as smart, this year so far he's got suspended for jumping a 5-7 kid and "shooting a puck at a fan." Although the latter wasn't as bad as it sounds, it was still a stupid move on his part.

The potential pay-off is high, but there's a huge risk factor as well. I'll let Chicago keep him, thanks.

Also, Chicago's going to regret that Campbell contract in a few years, methinks.

Hey, if you ever wanted a guy to play behind Spezza, that kid is absolutly ideal.

Brayden Schenn is the ideal complement to Spezza. Or Evander Kane.

Beach has just as much tallent than those 2, maybe more. I would take a shot on Beach because at the end of the day, he can get you 80 plus points and might be one of the toughest guys in the league to play againsts. I think some stuff on him has been blown out of proportion. We arnt getting him, but I like that kid for sure.

We will get a good player in the draft, no too worried about that.

Schenn is the guy that I really want because I also believe he would be the perfect complement for Spezza. That and the fact that I don't want Toronto to get him. I suspect that will happen though.

Beach is not comparable to Evander Kane in talent or offensive potential.

He and Schenn are perhaps comparable but Schenn is just as physically dominant, better defensively and a leader rather than a head-case.

In terms of guys I would want on my team, Beach doesn't even approach those two.

Beach def has the offensive potential of Kane, no doubt in my mind. I also love the fact he in a little nuts and loves to play that type of game. I think he is exactly the type of player Ottawa needs and has never had.

I don't believe that for a second. He may put up more points, but in terms of over-all offensive potential, Kane has him beat.

Dynamic speed and acceleration, soon to be great strength, disgusting shot, Heatley-lite understanding of finding holes to make oneself open and the ability to finish.

Beach is so over-rated IMO. And I'd much rather have a guy who's physical enough to hurt the other team (Schenn, Kane) but not an idiot who'll hurt yours like Avery does.

Emery was " a little nuts."
